Miles is a surprise. Perhaps his injury proneness has left something chronic?
I thought he showed a bit when given a chance last season...
Eddy. Well. He played a couple of GFs. More than most'll ever achieve.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
I think with Miles it was a matter of us having an abundance of running defenders who can't really play KP- Dempster, Gilbert, Geary, Gwilt.Thinline wrote:Miles is a surprise. Perhaps his injury proneness has left something chronic?

Miles was stiff, his best footy came during 09 when he couldn't crack the side.
As for Eddy, he always had a massive crack, and he sort of embodied Lyon's ability to get the most out of guys with limited ability.
But with Steven and Armitage coming through, something had to give, and it was Eddy.
Very appreciative of all their respective efforts at the Saints.
STRENGTH THROUGH LOYALTY.

Why wouldn't these guys have been told, and cut, at list lodgement 1??
Has something happened since then that the Saints needed to open up a couple of extra spots??
There seems to be a new thread every day about some other club's discards, perhaps RL has read one of them and we're gonna take a recycled player either in the national draft, or the pre-season draft.

I don't know that all that much has happened in that time although it would have become clearer just who may be available.St Chris wrote:Why wouldn't these guys have been told, and cut, at list lodgement 1??

Remember, the first list came pretty soon after GF2.
I'd say they just made sure they had created enough spots at List Lodgement #1 and then gave themselves a bit more time to have a think about things.

My guess is that Ross and others took a break and reviewed the list with a bit more time and clearer thinking after the season.St Chris wrote:Why wouldn't these guys have been told, and cut, at list lodgement 1??

Finals is what counts. Best 22 in the finalssaintlee wrote:Eddy wasn't in the 22 for most of the year. Sainter for life.
This. Its not uncommon, happens every year and its why their is a number of list lodgements.fingers wrote:My guess is that Ross and others took a break and reviewed the list with a bit more time and clearer thinking after the season.St Chris wrote:Why wouldn't these guys have been told, and cut, at list lodgement 1??

And yet expendible?? I don't think he was in our best 22 anyway.SaintSimmo wrote:Finals is what counts. Best 22 in the finalssaintlee wrote:Eddy wasn't in the 22 for most of the year. Perhaps in hindsight Ross feels he got his "best" wrong.
