Likely to see 8 new kids added to the list. That is exciting.
Very exciting! 9 new faces if you include Jackson Ferguson!

These list would imply that clubs MUST eventually have 38 players on their senior list and may have up to 2 veterans outside the list of 38.
They then may have rookies making the total up to 46 but 2 of these rookie places do not need to be filled.
It would then also seem that clubs (excluding special cases for Sydney, and Birsbane) are allowed 3 former scholarship OR international (not required to be former scholarship) rookies.

Walsh was never on a scholarship but he was an international.

All this means that unless St Kilda upgrades a rookie at List Lodgement 2 (due 2PM 10 November) they MUST make 4 draft national draft selections and MUST make 2 but can make up to 4 rookie draft selections.
These rookie draft selections will be called before Ferguson Jackson is called in the rookie draft.
Also if as it seems International rookies form part of the 3 special rookie category then St Kilda could nominate another international rookie and call him after Jackson.

The club has had what Nettlefold describes as "positive" meetings with Michael Gardiner, but will wait until the ruckman returns from holidays to decide his future.

St Kilda looks like having 4 picks Nos 24, 43, 60, 77 in this draft, assuming only North Melbourne uses their compensation pick this year.

A full 12 months of kids is available unlike last year when only 8 months became eligible.
BUT Gold Coast has signed 12 kids from the oldest 4 months during the course of this year.
AND has 3 Northern Territory Zone picks and 5 Queensaland zone picks ahead of the draft.
I still think this is like 40, 60, 80 and 98 in an uncompromised draft.

Last year St Kilda had picks 16, 32, 48, 64
But after trading in Lovett and Peake and trading out X Clarke the picks became 32, 60, 64, 77
But due to only 8 months availablity more like 48, 90, 96 and 111 in an uncompromised draft.
Surprise, surprise, those 90 and 96 were just delisted.

We should fare a little better than last year but only because last year our first pick was traded for a dud.

Officially, North are the only team using their compo. pick. And all Gold Goast's 17 year old picks where picked up last year. (Toy, Matera, Mckenzie, Weller etc. are the 17 year olds and they have been playing in the VFL the whole year with Gold Coast.), NOT this year.

I think you will find that some of the 12, including the early signings you list, played the full year in the VFL, but the full 12 was not completed until later this year.

EDIT: However, I think GWS have the chance to sign 12, 17 year olds this year.

I stand corrected.

But I ask which of those 12 would now NOT be taken in the first 35 players in this draft if all were available.
I suspect none, so our pick 24 is at least 36 with some of the Northern Territory and Queensland zone picks going earlier too.

Remember these 12 would normally have been taken in last year's draft except that the age limit was changed by 4 months for all other kids.
