This is the major sporting competition in Australia.
Clubs must adhere to rules, regulations & deadlines.
In the case of List Lodgement 1 that was 5pm last night.
Now maybe it's because it's the weekend and therefore we may have to wait til Monday.
But we should be able to see a definitive list that shows exactly who is on our senior list and who is a veteran (either inside or outside the list). We should be able to see who our Rookies, International Rookies and Scholarship holders are.
In short we should be able to tell exactly how many spots we have left.
We should be able to tell what is the go with Tom Simpkin, Tommy Walsh and Kane Murphy (in the case of TS, if you take The Age for example he is neither promoted, retained or delisted)
Hopefully things will become clearly when the AFL opens for business nest week!

Thanks SB.saintbrat wrote:Bono- do you have a link for the listing
was it this one

and Richter- to my knowledge Lenny is already listed as a veteran.- Jason would be a change to Veteran listing..
still awaiting full list publication.
Still makes me laugh that a bloke who is 29 is now labelled a 'veteran'. I'm nearly 7 years older than him and in my chosen career I'm barely started! Strange!
On the subject of JB, I saw him doing stretches by the beach a couple of weeks ago. Good to see him keeping in shape over the off season!
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

true - age becomes subsequent as we get there
Lenny will be 31 in 2011 and Jason 30
Jason only requires 13 games for 200
the other players who have crept up are Milney and Bakes- both turn 31 in 2011

The AFL is yet to publish the offical lists.Dr Spaceman wrote:Can't trust the media to be accurate with this I'm afraid.stinger wrote:our list changes from this mornings age.......doesn't look right to me...
ST KILDA
IN
Traded in: NIL
Elevated Rookies:
OUT
Retired: Steven King, Jesse Smith
Traded: NIL
Delisted: Andrew Lovett, Blake McGrath, Mark Hutchings, Adam Pattison
Picks: NIL
National draft picks 21, 39, 56, 73, 107, 124, 141.
What I'd like to see, on the AFL or Saints website, is our actual list as it now stands. That would give you a far better insight than just listing the changes.
They have published this
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx
ST KILDA
NAB AFL Draft selections: 24, 42, 59, 76, 93
Delistings and retirements: Mark Hutchings*, Steven King, Andrew Lovett, Blake McGrath*, Adam Pattison, Jesse Smith
Additions: Tom Simpkin (rookie elevation)
Approach: The main deficiency in the Saints' game plan seems to be leg speed. It was certainly an area highlighted in the grand final replay and St Kilda will be keen to stock up on quick players at the draft.
Dream selection: Tasmanian Josh Green has plenty of pace and knows how to back himself. He can play in front of goals and in the midfield and is sure to come into St Kilda's calculations if as expected he is still available towards the end of the first round.
NOTE The Age even got our draft picks numbers wrong
AND the AFL has not assigned pick numbers to the compensation picks most of which may be taken after the first found.
AND the AFL does not count the 12 players signed by Gold Coast ahead of the draft as draft picks.
The pick numbers give a very false impression of what pciks 24, 42 and 59 can deliver.
They are equivalent to 36 , around 60 and around 80.

No! Baker was never placed on the Veteran outside the senior list of 38.
Now we will have Hayes and Blake outside the senior list of 38.
Only half their pay counts against the salary cap.
Both Baker and Milne now qualify as veterans but they will both be veteran inside the senior list of 38.
Their full pay counts against the salary cap.
If the club were to use the veteran pay discount against the salary cap for either one or both of Baker or Milne then the discount on Hayes' and Blake's pay would only be 33 1/3% or 25% instead of 50%.
Not very smart considering the size of Hayes' pay.
Milne qualified on age last year but did not qualify for having 10 years at the club.

Promoting only Simpkin
Moving Blake to the veteran outside the senior list of 38
AND delisting Lovett, King, J Smith and Patterson
LEAVES 4 vacant slots on the senior list which MUST be filled.
Promoting only Simpkin
AND delisting Hutchings, Allen and L Fisher (because they have not been retained*)
LEAVES 3 rookie slots to be filled (only 2 slots may remain unfilled)
*However I hope there is an error in the HUN because they do not list Tommy Walsh as being retained.
Walsh was NEVER on a scholarship, he was preselected as an international rookie but once rookied became a normal rookie, he needed to be retained as 2nd year rookie or promoted to the senior list (do we really want to be forced to use pick 73 but equivalent to a late 90s in an uncompromised draft).
Delisting McGrath
ADDING Jackson Ferguson only
LEAVES 2 former scholarship rookie slots unfilled

I am disappointed that Kane Murphy did not make it as a former scholarship rookie.
The club used a scholarship on him for 3 years (I think) for no return.
I hope it does not pan out that he rejected a St Kilda rookie slot so that later Sydney could offer him a NSW zone rookie slot prior to the rookie draft.
His father played for Sydney but Sydney did not offer him a scholarship.

As I posted on another thread Tommy recently told the Irish media "Hopefully next year I can push on and get into the first team and get a few games. That's my goal and I just have to work hard to get there.'saintly wrote:maybe Walsh is not on the rookie list becuase the saints dropped him? they could have, could they not? and just not tell us!
So you would have to assume Tommy's keen to go on.
Therefore, if he were not on the list it would have to be because the Saints no longer want him. Given the trouble they went to get him here in the first place, and his better than expected performances for Sandy, that would appear most unlikely.
Let's face it, at worst he's taking up a Rookie spot and by nature they normally go to speculative picks, which Tommy was, and is.
Don't worry, Tommy will be on a list of ours somewhere.

The lack of an updated playing list from the club, or from the AFL, has been a great cause for concern for most on here!
Just realised that what the AFL sent out on Friday is unbelievably inaccurate.
The club sent an email out saying we delisted McGrath and Hutchins yet they werent on the AFL list.
And as mentioned by others, theres no mention of Kane Murphy or Tommy Walsh.
Numerous other club retirements / delistings were overlooked as well by the AFL including Graham Polak, Cameron Cloke, Bart McCulloch, Christian Block and a handful of others.

with a question.
how many of you have had a holiday weekend? left work at 5 pm Friday and will not go back till 9 am tomorrow- or 8 am or near?
the club will I am fairly certain have let the AFL know the required information at the required time the time was extended to 5 pm- if not the AFL will fine us- what's new they have fined just about every part of the St Kilda organisation over the last few years- thank good ness we are doing well enough to pay it...
it is ONLY the first list lodgment
there are two more....
and anything can happen between now and the end of November
the Saints staff and the AFL staff will be reduced over this current period as both take the opportunity to have holkidays- given many have worked 6-7 days per week for some months..
as stated above- the Saints were not the only team NOT with lists published by the familiar media- who have only gone on a previously given short list...
