I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass and im all out of bubblegum
In all seriousness, we are not asking any one of these de-listed players to come in and be a star.
We need a 3rd forward to take the heat off Kosi and Roo...Fisher did OK at Carlton when Fev was there. He always kicked goals against us as sides with a number of marking options up forward tend to do...
Fisher, Skipper, Miller, etc could do a job for us and allow Gilbert to remain as a link player from the half-back line...But none of them could be expected to hold down the main forward role as they are not up to it...
Andrew Lovett aside, we don't have a bad record when it comes to picking up players from other clubs...
We have a clear need to add immediate pace into the middle and 3rd tall option up forward...We didn't address this during trade week but I would be very surprised if this wasn't addressed during the draft.
Also, under the new interchange rules, I'd expect Kosi to do more ruckwork as I am not sure we can afford to carry two ruckmen into each game, so a marking forward would be a real option. There are players out there than can fill a gap for us.
I remember Fisher as an extremely courageous mark, and a pretty good trier.
If his problem at Carlton was 'environment', then I'd be happy to give him a fresh go.
If it's 'body' (ie knee), then no way, obviously.
Sorry Brett peake. he struggled for a game last year at Freo who were a bottom 4 side. Some players do better at other clubs and i see Brad Fisher as a real potential leader at our club and could carry us to a premiership.

Yes. Yes he did. And when the whips were cracking he struggled for us.
I'm glad that we didn't trade for 'bargains' again this year.
If we were going to trade we needed to trade a name to get quality and release salary cap pressure. That we didn't suggests they reckon improvemt will come from within. Has to be kids on the list because the top end has peaked.

He was always a great mark, although an average shot at goal.
If you can remember his pre-season this year, he was going great guns and many were talking of a real breakout season for him before he did his knee.
As we know, knees can take a while to recover from, mentally and physically, and it was a pretty big ask for his to return this year and play his A-game.
We could get him pretty cheap (maybe even as a rookie), and I would certainly not be disappointed if he ended up in RW&B next year
Brad Fisher is probably more like X Clarke, all the potential but his knee last year cost him his career. His knee kept him out of the side not his talent, as for Peake, Freo started playing kids that's why he wasn't playing seniors not because he wasn't up to it. Good player miss the seniors for a variety of reasons, same as some players miss out on being drafted and go on to be stars.
