What turns you off about the following??
- Living in a cul de sac 400 meters from a beautiful pristine beach
- Trains only 10 minute walking distance
- The best steaks served south of the Yarra at the Riv Hotel
- More Saints supporters in a single suburb than anywhere else I have ever come across ( 9 of the 12 houses in our street are keen Saints fants)
- Good schools a 15 minute drive away
- The ability to buy good large properties with enough room to house your cars and toys (boats / jetskis / caravans) for half that of most other suburbs
- A 10 minute bike ride with the family to go and watch the Saints train each week
Oh yeah... and not one single mother in our street! (and to be honest, I couldn't care less if there was).
So many of you on here are just a bunch of snobs!
One R.Harvey? If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

Sometimes I kinda wished I barracked for another side. I guess it's just the Collingwood factor. Sorry.

They will get used to it, they have to yes?Bernard Shakey wrote:I think you'll find the snobs that count are the players and they are not happy.SainterK wrote:All very good points Seaford Saint, I drove through there to have a look at the new facilities and I don't get what the fuss is about.
I fail to comprehend the issue anyway, the reality is the players will be training, eating, socialising inside the facility anyways.
I also find people are being very snobbish on here, ya big snobs!
Of course the players arent happy to travel to Seaford but the Saints have done a few things to help. Firstly one training session a week at Moorabbin and also when players are only required for a short period for massages and little things like that then they will be done at Moorabbin as well. They will make most sessions full days now so they dont have to go to and from training as they have done previously.
If they had their time again and a different CEO at the time then we would still be at Moorabbin with new facilities. To late for that so lets just get on with it. Anyway in 2012 i have a feeling the Saints will be playing at Moorabbin every second week.

I'd question the accuracy of the quoted figures on travel time.
1. Because I know for a fact that it takes less time than that quote and,
2. If we all relied on GPS and didn't take into account that things change over time we'd all be stuck in a blogging cave.
I maintain that Seaford to the CBD is approx. 21.5 mins
EDIT:
3. It can be done in 10mins with no respect for the speed limit.
You are talking garbage.
40-55 via the Frankston Fwy and then Nepean
Although you could reach most of the Southern and Eastern suburbs and most of the Peninsula within 30 mins.
don't forget the extra lane on citylink and that flow is in opposite direction.
off-peak Seaford to CBD is under 30mins CBD to Seaford off-peak is approx. an extra 4mins.
it can not be forgotten that one experiences no traffic lights whatsoever.
from seaford (frankston fwy/eastlink/peninsula link) i dont hit a light until montague street south wharf i then turn right go across the river and i'm in docklands.

Could always try for a staged build like geelong have done in the hopes of playing some AFL matches there again.
ATM we have a pretty much guaranteed crowd of around 22k at Etihad, could possibly play 4 matches at Moorabbin (Port, Freo, Gold Coast. West Sydney) and probably not lose any money even if capacity was only 15k for those matches at first
First thing to do would to build some good toilet facilities, which could be replaced (and possibly sold to local councils) as proper stands are built in stages and terraces around the enitre ground with rows of seats, which again would be replaced as the stands are built. Ideally they would use a similar system to Etihad/MCG in that the rows of seats could be removed and installed in the new stands as the they are built saving on costs.
Eventually Hawthorn might pull out of Tasmania and they could also play small drawing matches at Moorabbin.

Would still require some substantial work at Moorabbin before they could stage AFL games.
By law there is a certain amount of amenities required.
Which Moorabbin does not have....

Even a boutique stadium, built in stages, would cost millions.Ice Wolf wrote:Could always try for a staged build like geelong have done in the hopes of playing some AFL matches there again.

I'm pretty sure we don't have that money to spend.
And I'm pretty sure no one else would be prepared to chip in.
Therefore, IMO of course, will never happen.

has been mentioned by the CEO several times over the last few months- including at the rd 22 post game function.dcstkfc wrote:Mentioned at the BnF that they'd like to play a stand-alone VFL team out of Moorabbin.
does not need to be AFL level facilities- but how much to make it VFL standard?
