players will continue to be asked whilst both teams are in the top part of the League ladder

and fans will continue to struggle with the why.... or the why not....

Different opinion from me totally.

I like the bloke. Always have. I could never understand the decision and undue force for him to change his game style at St. Kilda given what he did for us was what Collingwood needed too. I honestly believe he is one of the players we had in 2009 that enabled quality clearances unlike in 2010.

He cared for the guys at St. Kilda despite winning a GF medal. This is a genuine good bloke.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Ok care factor 1..... seriously though he's a collingwood premiership player now, read a fair bit about him on here recently, maybe time to forget about him and move on

He also has 30 pieces of silver that our blokes don't.
And each piece of silver is worth over $10,000.

One paragaph says it all for me.
"Luke and I had a great relationship at St Kilda. We haven't talked in a while, but he was an integral part of our team for a long time. We shared a lot of good memories and a lot of tough memories, so we'll continue to be mates for the rest of our lives.
But I'm sure there will be some who'll read this 'statement' from BJ in an entirely different light.

that hurts.

Luke Ball has shown that ever since he joined, then left the Saints, he has a lot of class!

it still hurts though- and the leaving was like drawing a band aid of slowly.... and his medal just reinjures the spot..

Impossible to gauge the influence he's had on their side. They probably would've beaten us last weekend without him but IMO his addition was a major reason for the improvement of their midfield and allowed the likes of Pendlebury and Swan to do what they do best.

The one thing their midfield lacked in 2009 was a genuine in-and-under, ball-winning midfielder.

I seriously wonder how much a Premiership Medal would mean won with trailer park trash team mates he's only known for one year against winning with mates he's spilled blood with for ten years. I guess only he would know.

The problem with Ball started when some idiot put him on $600,000 making him our second highest paid player, more money than Hayes and Goddard!

So when his salary was dramatically reduced to a figure more reasonable reflecting his relative worth, with salary cap constraints to be taken into consideration he cracked it!

He should only have been getting $450,000 for starters and perhaps he would not have baulked and walked when his new contract was offered!

But to pay him $600,000 for so many years, when he couldn't kick over a jam tin and missed targets constantly was highway robbery!

The big problem was addressing the over inflated contract that Thomas had put him on to begin with!

If only Thomas had listened to Buttersss when he urged him to take Judd ( who RB had coached in under 14's at Sandringham ) in the draft instead of Ball, we would probably have three premierships by now!

If it wasn't enough that Thomas took Ball ahead of Judd, he then goes and puts him on $600,000 a year!

That's where the problem began!

Ball should never have been on such a high salary to begin with and obviously didn't like having his money reduced by around $200,000 a year!

Another fine mess Thomas got us into!

Well he has surpassed the Doc as the last St Kilda captain to win a flag.

Enough said.

Whilst he has form a s a good bloke he did quit the club with an "Up Yours" action.
Stuff him, he's a dog. His current attitude is part of his "well I hold no grudges for what THEY did to me".

I don't care how long he was at the Saints for he is a filth player now.

He represents a despicable club, that I despise... so imo opinion he is no better than Didak now.

He is filth now... and he chose to be a filth player rather than a Saint.

Siren sounds. I saw filth players run to each other and looked away. I then saw Ball and BJ embrace for much more than a well done. Roo joined. I looked over and saw the filth celebrating together except LB.

At the time I thought it was an amazing response and it gave me some comfort on such a shitfull day.

But I'm sure there will be some who'll see this in an entirely different light.
