Jason Cripps???
Being a bit nostalgic tonight and thought of Cripps looked to be a kid with great potnetial and speed missed 2 and a half years due to his hamstring injury (off the bone) then came back late in 2001? but lost a lot of his speed. The next year he played 20 out of 22 games but was then delisted (only 25 or 26 at the time), looking back that seems really strange anyone remember the reason why he was delisted?
A little off topic I remember a game against Adelaide in 2001 or 2002 where the saints kicked a ridiculous amount of goals straight 12 or 13 (something like that) and then Cripps kicked the first point or out of bounds and the crowd booed him.

memory not that good so yeah may have been against westcoast.
edit: return game was against Adelaide, and I think the game where he was booed was west coast in 2002.

I remember it being a pretty funny moment, the saints were up and almost guareenteed a win (very rare at that time) so the crowd was very relaxed.

Edit found some articles that say he retired. Still seems a little strange.
On a side note in his comeback game one Nick Reiwoldt made his debut.
I thought retired
but after reading this it says delist at very bottom of forum, i guess i assumed retired with why would we let him stay on list if he only played 2 games in 4 years and then delist after 20 in following year

then i read
When the Saints13 Nov 2006, 17:50
Cripps was an excellent footballer (midfielder) for the Saints '96/'97 and then he tore his hamstring off the bone twice.
Debilitating injury and he was devestated, but he got involved in the Team Management and Development field while recovering and has all sorts of qualifications in this area.
He returned to play for the Saints half-way through 2001, and had 28 disposals, 10 marks and kicked a goal in his first game back ... unfortunately we were beaten by 100 points.
He played the whole year in 2002 and was a solid contributor. He retired at the end of that year with 60 games to his name. He would have been a great player without the injury issues ...
Spent time at Tassie and then in the player development role at St. Kilda for a few years.
In 2005 he was made an assistant coach at the Saints, working with the defence and midfield.
One of the best blokes you will ever meet in your life and has a wealth of experience to bring to Port.
Sad to see him leave the Saints.
Its a good get.
so maybe retire
i have no idea

Correct. He kicked the first goal of the game which was an amazing start. It went downhill very quickly from there.wasoncestkil58 wrote:Was Reiwoldts debut Cripps comeback game and also Malcolm Blights last game as coach.
The other interesting fact is that Cripps played under three separate coaches in three consecutive games.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Then we went into freefall.
Turned out to be one of our worst games ever.
If it wasn't for accurate kicking we would have lost by 20 goals.
