Interesting that Eddie has been critical of Neil Mitchell today for naming the two Collingwood players involved in the alleged sexual assault.

So it's unfair for a radio station to name the Collingwood players, but ok for their senior coach to publicly accuse Stephen Milne of being a rapist.

Karma is a beautiful thing.

The real irony was Malty saying how the players shouldn't have aspersions cast over them blah, blah ..poor old man, he can't even remember the hypocritical incident, so he can't get embarrassed.

Wasn't Eddy running Channel 9 at the time when a Channel 9 reporter (I think it was Tony Jones) ran with the story that one of the players involved in the alleged rape was Kosi?

One would have thought that Jones would have spoken to Eddy before running with the story.

I think it's appaulling McGuire thinks he's entitled to a blanket media supression just because these guys play for his beloved club, yet happily will sick his media dogs on opposition team players without the slightest whim!!

Double standards Eddie!!! Funny how all of a sudden it's not okay to name potentially innocent people! Didn't stop them splashing other players faces who were regrettably in the same predicament all over the front page of the Herald Sun! Just desserts!!

I'm pretty sure that was Hutchy the Tosser on Ch7 and it resulted in Kosi getting a 'settlement from both Hutchy adn Ch7.

The one you might be thinking of is the report they ran that a Carlton player had an altercation with his missus in a nightclub, and then named the player (I don't recall who it was).

ANd surprisingly, amidst all the waffle pr bs they all went on with over the 'Saints Schoolgirl Sex Scandal' no mention was ever made of the third AFL player or his CLub. other than that there was a third player involved.

Obviously it's important for the wider community to know that Saints players were involved but not other Clubs' players.

Not publicly that I'm aware of.
And the girl in question certainly followed our team (and player specifically) interstate late in the season, claiming he was the Father and that she needed to talk to him. He refused.

Forget who, but someone on here posted a link in the HS that the schoolgirl was in attendance at the Collingwood party on the weekend.

Matters little to me, but I seem to recall our club's logo being attached to all of the media at the time.

Let's also remember how much complaining was being done when the Milne Montagna allegations we're being thrown around.
I'm sure Eddie would have got plenty of mileage out of it on that trash program he was in charge of then 'the Collingwood Footy Show' and certainly was happy to grab the ratings by naming them as often as possible.
Would like to know where the Players Association was back then, don't seem to remember them complaining about the players reputation being stained.

I chuckled when I read that Eddie suggested that Mitchell was wrong when he (Mitchell) claimed that names of the players pretty common knowledge. I reckon it was Monday or Tuesday when the link appeared on here and other boards that named them.

From that we need to make a judgement on Eddie. Which of the following applies (you can tick more than 1)?

1. Is he telling Fibs?

2. Is he living under a rock?

3. Has he never heard of this thing called the internet, including his own club's fan forum?

4. Is he trying to control this situation by trying to control what we all hear, read & think?
