Trade murmur: Sam on the email: A deal has been done between St.Kilda and Melbourne. Robert Eddy and Jarryn Geary to Melbourne for Matthew Warnock, just soughting out a shuffle of draft picks."

Hmmm, possibly not bad, so long as there's a draft pick involved. How often do these rumours amount to anything...this time of year is a real raffle.

I can't see it m'self...where are Melbourne going to use Geary or Eddy? Are we recruiting Warnock as a ruck, or as a backman to fit into the best defensive 6 in the league?

It gives us some options and i really like it.

Warnock is a great defender, it will free Gilbo to play fwd

Eddy and Geary are hard, but are still only 16-22 players on the list but maybe

20-30 types as they are in and out

Now offer us one of their mid fwds and l would think about it. That why Collingwood have so much trouble with them b/c they have heaps of good mid size fwds. Bate, Pettard etc.

Our back 6 are defensively effective but only Gwilt has great disposal. Can Warnock kick? Can he go forward?

Melbourne players that would suit us and possible tradeables:

Bate
Green
Bruce
Warnock
Maloney

The mids are mostly senior and won't see the next melbourne premiership and would be gettable. Bate would be a beauty as he is a bit like Hayes stands up in a tackle and keeps smashing himself into contests.

I would also look at Morton from Richmond and play him more like his brother at melbourne, he can kick a goal which would be handy also.

Wasn't he also dropped from the Melbourne side and has poor disposal? Nesides it's only a rumor on a sportal forum.

I beg to differ.

I reckon what we are missing is a true big key backman.

By getting a backman who is bigger in stature, we can then free up one of our runners who have had to play bigger over the past couple of seasons.

I've been calling for this since Luke Penny retired. We never actually replaced him.

Would we get rid of those two? Up until yesterday, I hadn't known that Geary had some kind of injury that prevented him getting selected towards the end of the season...

I don't like the idea of any of our boys going though.

I will be shattered if this happens!

I spoke to Geary last night and he certainly had no idea that he was on the trade table, he loves playing at St Kilda and is very keen to hold on to his spot for finals next year.

So we've officially moved on from "welease Bwendon to go forward" to "fwee Tham to go forward"!

From what I saw in the GFx2, I'm more concerned with getting Milne and Schneider to play forward: both spent a helluva lot of time in the back half.

As for the trade, I'd be sorry to see Geary go, as I rate him. Don't care much re Eddy. Warnock is quite a good player IMO.

I dont really like the sound of this. I think Eddy and Geary is way too high a price to pay for what we would get.
I am always the first to admit I am too soft hearted about our boys but I would really hate to see either of them go. Maybe I am being too sentimental but it just doesnt sit right.

Im not generally big on trading average players for average players, but in this case, I'd take the trade...

Especially if we can upgrade a draft pick...

Geary has shown abit, but has a lot to work on, and I'd be happy to see Eddy moved on, as he can't cut it..

Warnock is ok imo, and if Frawley didnt come on so much this year, would be seen as a solid, strong defender with a good future...

Did good jobs on Hall and J. Brown in the past...

But as I stated earlier, would like a draft upgrade in there somewhere to get it done...
