Post: # 1012292Post Enrico_Misso »

Tonight, after a season when he played in most of the games, he finished 18th.
At this rate he is barely in our top 22.

It is an indictment on him.

And if our coaching panel think so little of him, why didn't they look to Stanley?

Because at the moment they think even less of Stanley.

Kosi won't be afforded the same chances next year.

Well, he will have to fight for his spot next year.

I'd still like to see him play in the ruck some more, not the main ruckman, but as a second ruck....pushing forward and back when neccessary.

Ross never said he was playing FF because it was his best position, it's been about structure.

He was (effectively) a number one draft pick.

Has never measured up to that.
But these stats show that in the eyes of his bosses he doesn't even rate as a significant contibutor in any of his 10 seasons (OK a few were injury interrupted).

Here we go again. Don't you think we have enough Kosi dedicated threads?

Give the guy a break! Complaining constantly is not going to change anything, He is not going anywhere.

The thing I find annoying, is Luke Ball moved on to a side that would fit him in, here we have a guy who tries to fit in wherever he best can for his side....I like that.

Maybe that's the question the club should be asking.

If the Gold Coast were interested in Josh Fraser, Will Minson, David Hale, and Brad Miller, there is no reason why we couldn't snare a draft pick or two for Kosi.

Seems to fit that mould.

I like that post  Very good point. Can't have it both ways. Back in 2008 I said this about Milne - 'he may not be the greatest, but he's ours.' I reckon Milne has improved out of sight in the past 2 years.

Kosi may well never be a superstar, (in fact he won't be) but there's something about him I've always liked. There's something distasteful about 5 threads a month on how crap he is for a 10 year player.

If we keep him then I really hope that he goes he trains in the off season to be a ruckman.

However; if Gardy stays on then we will have as ruckman
- Gardy
- Big Mac
- Kosi

I think we will see much more mobile ruckman as a result of the 3 man interchange bench, it will be imperative for 1 designated ruck and the 2nd ruck to rest forward. Which poses the question, If Stanley was to be our full forward then we'd be way too tall in our forward line, unless we were to move Roo onto the wing.

Assuming that Gardy is our number 1 next year, this would leave Big Mac and Kosi competing for exactly the same spot. If we go with Kosi then we'll be impacting Big Macs development and our future ruck stocks.

Ross will have a clear plan on how he plans to structure next year (taking into account the new rotations) and I just don't know how Kosi fits into those plans.

Unfortunatley I think the game has just become too fast for him. Kosi would have been a dream player in the 90's.

You have actually answered your own question, as the Suns appear to think more of all of the above players than Kosi.

I'm sure if we could trade Kosi for even a second round pick, we would.

Kosi's effort in Grand Final 1 was incredible his effort in the ruck when clearly his chest area was injured was team lifting. Never would I suggest we move Kosi on these blokes are what make teams great.

It's an oft quoted statistic and not quite true but it bears further analysis before condemning Kosi.

The Saints best and fairest is heavily weighted towards players who play a lot of games. Kosi was our 16th most regular player this year so finishing 18th is not so far off the mark.

In fact Kosi has only been in our top 10 for games once in his career. And in that year, his first, he did make the top 10 in the best and fairest.

I love the Blake but the reason he keeps getting top 10 finishes in the best and fairest is because he plays every game.

If you don't think Kosi can play, feel free to say so but don't use some bogus stat to justify slagging off at one of our own.

Just intersting that the coaching staff defend him each week saying he "plays a role". yet in a B&F voting system that rewards exactly that, he doesnt poll well at all?

What pick he was taken at is irrelevant to his performance 10 years later.

It wasn't Kosi's decision to be selected in the top two.

Anyone who can remember the 2001 season can see why he was taken high in the draft. Injuries and changes to the game have reduced his effectiveness. He starred at CHB in 2001. Imagine, even with a clean bill of health to this day, him playing that position today. The games changed.

In the same way that the game has changed to suit a squib like Kelly at geelong. Not so many years ago he was ineffective because of the one-on-one nature of the game. In the zoned, running game of today he looks a player.

Players do not have to perform to where they are selected a decade ago in the draft. In a salary capped competition they must perform up to or better than the percentage of money they take out of the cap.

I would suggest that it has been many years (if ever) since Kos featured in the top 10 best paid players at the club.

one thing that tells me;

Ball got a B&F and 2nd B&F in 04/05. Not bad for a wasted draft pick........

Kosi is one of my favourite players although I am starting to think he needs a big year next year. I would like him to be rotated through the ruck a bit more, especially in games where he has had minimal impact up forward early.

He is clearly a confidence player, when he IS comfident he is one of the best pack marks I have ever seen.

Time for Kosi to be traded !

Post: # 1012501Post WinnersOnly »

Time for Kosi to be traded - over paid and over rated! I we expect to improve the SAINTS need to make some big calls on their list ! Trade to Suns for a high draft pick or to Carlton straight swap for Jacobs...

1. Wouldn't get a high pick from the suns

2. would get Sam Jacobs for him

So he's not a star so fn what disappointing yes but so fn what he earned his spot in the side and is the best player we currently have for his role. No use trading out player for nothing Kosi would be worth more to us then what any club would be willing to give us for him and we have no one to fill his role (maybe Stanley but didn't do much with the games he had and may need longer time to develop).

Accept it and move on.

But no lets get rid of him because he's overated lol he aint overrated people just expect more from him and they have to get over it he is what he is no more a good ordinary player that everyone wanted to be a A grader.

Montagna had a great season but played crap in the second granny so lets get rid of him, Gilberts had a great year but missed a couple of shots on goal lets get rid of him ect ect.. some people need calm down and think things through.

As for over paid I have no idea how much he is paid and I guess very few here do.
