Your suggesting the saints delist blake.
Just about all your posts make me laugh jabber, I just dread the day you accidently get something right.
Yes I would delist Blake
Blake McGrath that is.
He can't even get a game with Sandringham seniors.
Pity he does not appear to be as talented as Sandilands.
Although as a former NSW scholarship player he could get a third year as a rookie.

Next year will Riewoldt will meet the first criteria - 10 years at the club.hotdish wrote:SENIOR LIST

Tom Simpkin (RL says he'll get more chances - http://tiny.cc/htlts)

Blake McGrath
Tommy Walsh
Daniel Archer
Mark Hutchings
Steven Gaertner
NOTES:
Whats the veterans list situation?
Currently:
Lenny Hayes (V+) "Veteran outside list of 38"
Steven Baker (V) - "Veteran on list of 38"
Most teams have two players who are (V+), but we only have one. Why?
Surely Riewoldt will be promoted to the veterans list now.
But he must also be 30 years old by 30 September of the playing year.
Put another way he needs to be 29+1/4 at the start of the year.
Riewoldt will not be eligible for veteran until 2013 (He misses out on 2012 by 18 days.)
We don't want him grow old too quickly do we?
Not filling the second veteran position only allows 39 senior players but may be used to save money if the salary cap is really tight.

I just checked the rules in the AFL REcord Season Guide 2010.noob wrote:blake mcgrath hasn't he done the maximum time on the rookie list? probably would delist johnson.. probably because haven't heard his name in the mix for the saints and cahill (maybe rookie one of them)
ALL rookies can now be retained for a third season.
In the case of Blake McGrath he would qualify as a former NSW scholarship rookie, so retaining him would not block one of the normal rookie positions.
A club must have 4 rookies.
A club may have 6 normal rookies in normal years but for 2009-2012 may have 8.
2 of these normal rookies may be over 23 at the start of the year.
In addition a club may have 3 special rookies who are former scholarship players.

I would honestly consider delisting some of the bottom 6, Mini is only getting older - why can Jack Steven not step into this role, plus more dangerous? I would delist Mini & Eddy at the very least and I'd put some faith in Steven, Armo and Lynch to replace.
Raph is lucky to be there still, he is so like Kosi, I wouldn't want to get rid of him based on his potential, but the injuries are a worry - every time he seems to finally click onfield, he gets a setback... but how much longer do we persist? And what can he do that Miles can't?
Please Ross have some faith and start playing the kids or else we will have a whole bunch of 23 year olds with no experience or confidence - just like what Armo is going through now!

How many games has Miles had, I would expect him to be a long way back behind Raph. We need to look at developing the last 4 spots on the senior team. If Steven Armo Miles and Al Smith keep on pushing for one of those and Rhys comes on a bit there is real potential for an improvement. Not sure about trading out good players.

Delist the bottom 6 then you have no depth. No one says they have to play . Look at Collingwood, Davis, Medhurst , Lockyer, Presti were in starting 22 2009, and gave them depth in 2010 .St Ick wrote:I would honestly consider delisting some of the bottom 6, Mini is only getting older - why can Jack Steven not step into this role, plus more dangerous? Can still play the kids without stripping the depth

I can understand the want to play kids, but don't think we need to delist regulars maybe just put some pressure on them to perform.

Delisting should look like this:
Mcgrath - hasnt done anything, still struggling to get games in the sandy 2's
Hutchings - Hasnt done enough, to small and from what ive seen of his sandringham games has no speed
Cahill - Maybe give him another chance, showed abit this year but might not get lucky for a third.
L.Fisher - To old now, needs to move on and has had an average year anyway. should do well at local levels chasing cash.
Alreadd gone :
Steven King (ret)
Jesse Smith (ret)
Andrew Lovett (gone to jail)
Jarryd Allen (ret / inj)
Possibilites to go:
Pattinson? ( not yet a ruckman nor forward)
Geartner? (is he all there...? )
Archer? ( showed abit of potential but was polaying sandy 2's for alot of the year..
Johnson played all 18 games for sandy and showed that he has got most of it but still needs to improve. Will definitely be there next year
Winmar in the same boat as johnson, will be at the club definitely necxt year and just has to get his body right.

I doubt they will delist Archer or Hutchings after just one year as rookies.saintingIN wrote:Delisting should look like this:

can see us delisting one of cahill or johnson and picking themon the rookie list, perhaps even both.
So
Gone from the senior list
King
Lovett
Smith
Gone from the rookie list
Allen
Fisher
Mcgrath
Those given another year on the rookie list
hutchings (hard at it inside midfielder with leadership skills)
archer (big bum and good frame means two more years in the system could create a seriously good forward)
Geartner (coach loves him from all reports, has that x factor. Not sure if he will make it)
Players elevated
simpkin (should putpressure on blake for his spot, will be a beauty)
walsh (will start down back and has skills to become a great player)
Those that could retire
Baker
Gardiner
FQF

Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck

Fair call, maybe it was a little bit knee-jerk. My thinking was just that they were getting older, probably free up some $$'s by getting rid of them and how much improvement can we expect from them? But yes, list fillers can come in handy if we had injuries or whatever. I'll just get down from my box now...older saint wrote:Delist the bottom 6 then you have no depth.
