All this negative talk of Kosi is such a reminder of the small gap between hero and zero in sport.

Kosi very nearly marked that ball about 15 or 20 mtrs out in the last 40 seconds or so of GF1. He surely would have kicked at least a point. Suddenly he's the hero. Done a great job in the ruck after or number one ruck goes down, he kicked a great goal earlier from outside 50 and kicked the winning score...he could live of that for the rest of his days.

Instead the game is a draw and he plays a shocker the next week and he's gone as far as most are concerned.

Same with some pies players. THe likes of Luke ball, Harry O etc who had shockers last week then play well this week....all is forgiven.

Heath Shaw will be reminded of "that" moment when he smothered the Roo kick on goal for the rest of his days. Yet he had a few nervous moments last week which resulted in scores to us late and could have cost them it. He's gone from zero to hero.

That's the way it goes though. An AFL footballer needs to make his mark on the field when the stakes are high and it is the same thing in most of life's achievements. You need to seize the moment and a number of Pies players did that in the GF replay. We too have watched that moment several times in GF1 when Kosi could have marked it 20 metres out in the last 40 secs. He was the tallest player contesting by a fair margin and could have used his body more to mark it and if he did use his body more and still failed to mark the ball, he may well have drawn a free kick because of his height and reach advantage. It's moments like that which make a player, especially if they want it bad enough. Kosi made a mess of it because he is unfortunately not good enough, as in several other instances in his career.

Agree. He should have been able to do more with that opportunity.

Saintnick12, my old man especially has repeatedly watched his effort in the last minute of GF1 more than a dozen times and the sadness and heartbreak in his face says it all. Reckons Kosi had been given his golden moment by the footy gods then and there and blew it.

That's being very hard and unfair; especially if you are talking about him taking a mark when the ball was cleary touched before he got his hands on it.

Kosi hasn't played a decent game for years. He should have been traded ages ago, yet he's been signed up for a further 2 years!

Giving him a 2 year contract was dumb based on his output fot the last 6 years (since 2004 Finals Series under Thomas). Now more than ever, once the ball hits the ground he has far less chance to win the ball than all the other forwards in the comp. Hally at 33 has heaps more pace than Kosi.

He had that purple patch in 2005.

That's right, all of 3 games. It was midseason when Roo hurt his collarbone the second time vs the Dogs and it was against teams that had no impact on the 2005 Finals series.

Relax. He played ok in 2009 kicking 50 and was a reason why we won 19 in a row.

And he did ok in the second half of the draw....Kosi is an easy target and it's getting a bit boring really.

Relax. He played ok in 2009 kicking 50 and was a reason why we won 19 in a row.

Pity he didn't carry a portion of that ok form into the 2009 Finals.

He was improving up until last week, his form warranted selection...that Ross has persisted playing him forward when we all know he severely lacks mobility, perhaps the blame needs to shift now?

for the exact same reason why Malthouse hasnt delisted Leon Davis and gets games in a GF. When your coach publicly backs you, you are generally pretty safe.

Actually... I think Kosi only looked good against Jolly because we had either Goddard or Hayes going up as a second ruck at EVERY contest.

In GF2, the Pies were aware of this, and stopped the ability for a second man up, and Kosi was killed by Jolly.

HOWEVER, that was against Jolly, their number one. If he played against most clubs number 2 ruck, he would go ok I reckon.

But if Gardiner signs, then there is literally no room for Gardi Ben and Kosi in the one team anymore.

And I don't want any of them playing as a permanent forward.

I will say it again. kosi is an ordinary footballer who people expect will play better. The facts are quite clear now that he is a very ordinary footballer who will not improve now and will probably get worse with age. To sign him to a new deal was interesting to say the least.

Exactly. I know many us hoped he will improve but we are clutching at straws because this comment the truth. He has had a myriad of chances to deliver but he is simply not good enough.
