A sherbet bomb plus 4 licorice blocks. This must be the first ever thread on Kosi IMO.

We would get stuff all for him. One of the most ridiculed Saints players from the GF (alongside McQualter and Peake) from so many footy observers.

agree....but would like to see Gilbo alternate between wing/onball and forward to add some flexibility. He seems keen to do that.

Except that means we don't get to utilise his outstanding ability to get on the end of opposition kicks and take big pack marks.

All this negative talk of Kosi is such a reminder of the small gap between hero and zero in sport.

Kosi very nearly marked that ball about 15 or 20 mtrs out in the last 40 seconds or so of GF1. He surely would have kicked at least a point. Suddenly he's the hero. Done a great job in the ruck after or number one ruck goes down, he kicked a great goal earlier from outside 50 and kicked the winning score...he could live of that for the rest of his days.

Instead the game is a draw and he plays a shocker the next week and he's gone as far as most are concerned.

Same with some pies players. THe likes of Luke ball, Harry O etc who had shockers last week then play well this week....all is forgiven.

Heath Shaw will be reminded of "that" moment when he smothered the Roo kick on goal for the rest of his days. Yet he had a few nervous moments last week which resulted in scores to us late and could have cost them it. He's gone from zero to hero.

Agreed. Gilbert is best as a defender. We would be robbing Peter to pay Paul doing that and I seriously doubt he would ever improve his kicking enough to become a good goalkicker.

Yes, fair point.

I just think his days as a key position forward are over and his future is as a mobile second ruck.

He doesn't kick enough goals and the ball is too easily swept out if he doesn't mark.

Totally agree, just a reminder of how cruel and unforgiving elite sport is.

That's the way it goes though. An AFL footballer needs to make his mark on the field when the stakes are high and it is the same thing in most of life's achievements. You need to seize the moment and a number of Pies players did that in the GF replay. We too have watched that moment several times in GF1 when Kosi could have marked it 20 metres out in the last 40 secs. He was the tallest player contesting by a fair margin and could have used his body more to mark it and if he did use his body more and still failed to mark the ball, he may well have drawn a free kick because of his height and reach advantage. It's moments like that which make a player, especially if they want it bad enough. Kosi made a mess of it because he is unfortunately not good enough, as in several other instances in his career.

Kosi hasn't played a decent game for years. He should have been traded ages ago, yet he's been signed up for a further 2 years!

Agree. He should have been able to do more with that opportunity.
Just pointing out that the gap between hero and zero is small, but the consequence is monumental

Giving him a 2 year contract was dumb based on his output fot the last 6 years (since 2004 Finals Series under Thomas). Now more than ever, once the ball hits the ground he has far less chance to win the ball than all the other forwards in the comp. Hally at 33 has heaps more pace than Kosi.

If Kosi made a $1 or $10 for every time his name is mentioned in relation to ' expectation" he'd be rich enough to retire and Buy a tractor as well as the Truck....

Then WHY was he given a contract?

There's something more to it.

He's either being turned into a ruckman or he's been hobbled by something unpublicised.

There is otherwise no valid reason for keeping him particularly as GC would have taken him uncontracted and we would have extracted a pick in a year when they are gold...

I have faith that the powers that be know what they are doing, but this one has me baffled I must admit...

Has fallen way off the pace and there looks to be no way back.

Lost all mobility and can't take a grab to save himself.

No other club will take him - we'd demand too much.

We're stuck with him.

He needs to have a seriously strong pre-season.

Why not delist him then? Free some cap. Instead we re-contracted him.

Confused? I am.

From all reports he's a cracker of a bloke but fact is some high picks don't meet expectations. It happens. Cruel industry blah blah...

So many questions with the No 23.

I suspect (hope?) there's something we don't know about.

Saintnick12, my old man especially has repeatedly watched his effort in the last minute of GF1 more than a dozen times and the sadness and heartbreak in his face says it all. Reckons Kosi had been given his golden moment by the footy gods then and there and blew it.

One appearance in the club top ten (ninth) in ten years and you think there's something we don't know about. I don't think so.
