Put it all in here.

Who goes? Who should we go after? How should the game plan be changed? Where will we finish? Is it time to do a proper re-build? Which kids should play and how much?

Trade Riewoldt, Goddard, Hayes, Montagna, Gilbert, Fisher, Dal Santo and Gwilt and rebuild.

Hire Matthew Knights as coach, sack him two years later and appoint Robert Harvey.

All works out.

If we couple your plan with my plan we could be on to something!

Goddard, Hayes, Gwilt, Fisher, Dawson, Blake hold their heads high. The rest learn how to perform when it matters.

A cruel list manager would get rid of Eddy, Peake, Koschitzke, McQualter and Jones. They gave absolutely nothing in the grand finals and simply looked way out of their depth. Battlers 'playing a role' might work in the home and away season, but we've seen that some level of actual talent and ability is required to be of any use when it counts.

Bakes is done, I think. We're better off giving a Geary/Smith game time.

Montagna and Riewoldt are superb players who have given us nothing in three grand finals; they need to lift their game.

2011 (hopefully a couple of decent players can be recruited over the off-season as well)

B: Gwilt, Dawson, Dempster
HB: Gram, Blake, Fisher
C: Jones, Hayes, Dal Santo
HF: Schneider, Riewoldt, Gilbert
F: Milne, Koschitzke, Steven

Foll: Gardiner, Goddard, Montagna
Int: Ray, McEvoy, Armitage, Smith/Geary/Peake/Walsh/Lynch

A number of players have totally let us down in two Grand Finals.
No third chances.
We either need to trade them, or work them out of our preferred 22.

In the unlikely event Goodard, Hayes and co. get us back there again next year, I don't want to see these same guys let us down a third time.

Pretty good summary for mine, but I would hope that Stanley is given every chance next year, at the expense of Gardi (retirement/injury) or Kosi (form).

Also Raph could still be a best 22 player IF he can keep fit.

This is a rambly collection of my thoughts.

First things first, I'm not slashing my wrists.

Last year was absolutely horrible because we threw away a chance against a giant in its prime. This year were were a distant underdog and only the odd shape of a Sherrin stole our flag. Roo's bounces through 9/10. Milne's sits up and he slots 9/10. It didn't happen. History.

The replay didn't even feel like a GF. It was an anti climax designed for the team that started best. It wasn't us. Why? Because like every team that plays a GF should, we left nothing on the field when we got our first chance.

Kudos to Pies. They have a young exuberant and confident set up. They were too fresh and too clinical when they had to be.

Now, we move on. We must HUNT.

RL for all his thoughtful strategising simply must lose the tendency towards conservatism - in selection. We need spark, dash and creativity. There's a few options in trade - Veszpremi and Tambling spring to mind - but we have to be realistic about what we have as collateral.

Despite contract status Armo, Kosi, Lynch and Geary I think are likely to be dangled as tradable. None will go. I think Farren Ray will go to GC. I'm smelling a rat, so to speak. We'll get a pick of some sort for him. Maybe that pick and a player buys us something we need. Dunno. Can't see what at this stage.

When all is said and done I'd get Armo running himself raw off season so he comes in to help out Hayes in the hard stuff. If he can't, then maybe Smith or Geary for that role?

Have a good long look at Heyne, Simpkin, Walsh, Smith and Lynch in the NAB. They play ALL preseason games no exception.

Miles and Raph to battle out the back six spot Gilbert frees up when he goes forward as a running midfield/forward option as per this year's GF's. Gilbo is superb at the man and the body and his line breaking run forward of centre is just so crucial.

Milne and Steven to rotate fwd and middle. We simply need more creativity in the centre.

Stanley for Eddy or McQualter. He won't necessarily nail the tackles the others do, but he's mobile enough and quick enough to be damaging in his own way.

Kosi to the ruck with McEvoy when we play two rucks. I suspect we won't be doing that so often in 2011. Kosi as a fwd is over. He cannot apply pressure and every spilt clam is an easy crumb for a defender who knows he won't be mown down.

Gardiner and Baker to retire.

Smith works for Bakers spot.

Rd 1 2011 looks like this

Miles/Clarke Dawson Blake
Gram Fisher Gwilt
Dal Santo Hayes Jones
Milne Riewoldt Gilbert
Schneider Stanley Steven

McEvoy Goddard Montagna

First choice Int from Armitage Peake Smith Geary, depth from Dempster Walsh Lynch Simpkin Heyne

IM afriad we have to be a bit brutal this time round.

Our fringe players have no trade value...so....much as I hate to say it Id be putting Kosi on the table. Tough call but he's given us nothing all season bar a quarter here and there. We have Pattinson as a backup ruck

Eddy, Geary, Mini..gone. The future of our list is Stanley, Steven, Simpkin, Walsh and Lynch

LOL@ anyone who wants Milne gone. We wouldnt be in the GF if it wasnt for him. Terrrific H&A season and was in our best in the Geelong win..BOG til 1/2 time

We need pace, pace and more pace....blokes who will take on an opponent and break a line. Some flair and dash. Collingwood have our forward pressure but also run and run and run. Did us cold for leg speed

There will be no Schneider for Rounds 1 and 2. Replace him with a youngster and make him earn his spot.

I like your team Punter, but I would replace Schneider with Armitage, and Armitage with Walsh on the bench.

There's no way Ross goes in with an 'I must play the kids mentality'. The kids will be given every chance to impress, but the incumbents will be given every chance to show they've improved.

Steven didn't win a ground ball in his last two games. He's not going to get selected as a small forward doing that. If Armo shows the same level of inconsistency he did this year, he won't get selected. If Stanley continues to look awesome while doing not much, he's not going to make the team.

Barring injuries, I think guys like Lynch, Simpkin and Walsh line up for Sandy each week.

I don't think Ross will bail on his 22 as quickly as this forum has.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Someone made the point that the alignment with Sandringham was abysmal because Lovell was packing his bags for GC mid season.

Simply the same system must be played at Sandy as is played at St K.

Pies second stringers fit seamlessly into seniors.

Ours - almost every one - looked like they didn't know where to stand.

MUST change.

Well it will be worse next year. They are getting a part time coach solely paid for by Sandy apparently.

Just awesome.

I suppose it doesn't matter who or how...It's just as long as they are committed to the alignment I guess...

I think a part time coach will be easier to pressure into developing our players. As for Miles all I remember him doing that was out standing was in a sprint.

He might be a gun but he needs to be there for his footy not his running, same with Stanley. He was actually not looking like he deserved to hold his spot when dropped. if any of the kids are pressuring spots they should get a fair run at them, otherwise there has to be a good reason to play them.

I would play Al Smith, he looked a player when he got a go.

Should consider offering Kosi to bulldogs for everitt. would be a win/win for both clubs.

Then we should shuffle the team around

B: Miles Dawson Blake
HB: Smith Fisher Gwilt
C: Montagna Hayes Dal Santo
HF: Gilbert Stanley Everitt
F: Schneider Roo Steven

R: Gardner BJ Armitage

I\C: Mcevoy Gram ??(Trade/draft)

Sub: McQualter

This would give us an injection of pace and youth and skill

BJ has arrived!!!!!!!!!!

We will have to start getting used to this sort of thing it seems.

I'd say Dempster or Blake will end up being our regular sub.

You'd be looking for a versatile type.

Dempster, Blake, McQualter, Peake, Jones. They are the players that I would be trying t0 improve on. If we keep playing all of them we will never improve.
