Steven, Miles ,Stanley,A.Smith & Geary. Ross, it is time
We have won zero from three gfs. It is time to get 15= games next year into these guys. Ability sand pace - just lack experience.
Collingwood did it this year. dropped fraser, O'bree , davis , presti and many others and trained up the youth.
Ross. Love you as coach , but please don't try the same thing again. it's time for fresh blood.

I saw him before the game today. Was really surprised at how tall he is. I'm about 186cm and he certainly seemed taller than me, so it will be interesting to see which positions he plays in.saintlarry wrote:i'd liek to see winmar get a couple of games.
I hear he can actually hit a target, and oh god do we need that.

It's time for an injection of pace and skills. There's f*** all we can trade for so we'll simply have to develop what we've got. It's the non-core players who are holding us back. It's not their fault they keep getting picked, but we've got too many stoppers and not enough blokes who are willing to create to take the game on.
All the blokes you have listed HAVE to be the ones.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I still believe Stanley with his height and pace, could become a devastating wing/half forward player.
His height gives the defence something to kick long to out of defence, his quickness means he can't be run down easily.
Let's hope Ross tries some new tricks in the preseason.
I agree, Eddy is a back up player at best, and Mini just did not contribute enough for the whole season.
At least last year he was good for at least 1 goal, but barely bothered the scoreboard this year.

IMHO its time to overhaul the entire list, squad, gameplan and tactics.
The press and pressure, low scoring, stoppage game has been worked out by our rivals and if im being brutally honest we have at least half a dozen players in our best 22 that wouldnt be getting a game at many of the other top 8 clubs let alone top 4.
Its time to give the young hungry blokes a run and switch up the game plan. IMHO we have the list that can play hard, exciting AND pressure football.
We need to evolve or we will tumble down the ladder next year

What about some Bigger names that totally let us down yesterday AND totally let us down last year?
Do we just say they had (another) bad day?
Or do we actually recognise that they are not up to it and look to "exiting" them
either from our preferred 22
or from the club?
Sounds a harsh call, but how many failures do you need.
Collingwood recognised they were carrying some big name duds and exited them.
We need to do the same.

Agree 100% Enrico_Misso.
Tough calls need to be made. Move on who needs to be moved on regardless of their name or reputation. No sentiment at all.

yes we have the potential, and a lot to like within the evolving cattle down the list, to replace those mentioned and improve a lot more
There's not a great deal of changes to be made when you look how the Pies have emerged from successive Prelim beltings It's definitely that bottom much talked about bottom six and a more attacking stlye that needs the work
Keep the faith
We will come again with Tommy Walsh, Luke Miles , Rhys Stanley
Jack Steven , Smith, Armo and Simpkin

I agree entirely. Are you speaking of eddy, baker, mcqualter, , or bigger names?Enrico_Misso wrote:What about some Bigger names that totally let us down yesterday AND totally let us down last year?

It's all well & good getting rid of players, but who do we replace 'em with? By the time we get a draft pick, there'll only be Percy Jones left still hanging out for his 200th game. We haven't recruited any real new talent for some time now. As for the trades, we are only likely to get cast-offs who just aren't up to it, we got lucky with King & Gardiner. There are no premierships to be had by foraging the footy scrap heap.
If any genuine stars were to arrive on the market, the clubs would be asking for someone like Roo or BJ in exchange.

I would say our list is full of young blokes that deserve a chance and need to be given a shot to prove what they can do.
Putting Stanley in for 1 game then dropping him for 2 months will do 0 for his development ditto Steven, Geary and Heyne.
We need to overhaul the game plan, list and team in order to move foward. Recruiting the likes of Cox, Tambling, Grigg, or Bate will put us back years.
If the young guys are so not up to it why the hell are they on the list?

I reckon a good trick for Stanley would be o play a 202cm player in the ruck.3rd generation saint wrote:I still believe Stanley with his height and pace, could become a devastating wing/half forward player.

He will be a good ruckman Plugger 66, but he is still underdeveloped and would be pushed around too easily.
Mcevoy is a couple years ahead of him and he still get's pushed around by the bigger ruckman in the comp eg Jolly.
Get him on a wing or flank where he can use his speed and height without having to use to much of his bulk.
Will help build stamina and endurance for a future run in the ruck.
He would be a very diificult match up, anyone who can match his height wouldn't have his speed and anyone with the speed to match couldn't match his height.
