Blake-- Has a history of being capable ( the Age)

VICTORIAN Metro coach David Dickson has a problem, and it won't go away.
Yes, he has a very talented team with precocious talents such as Caydn Beetham, Ben Johnson, Ezra Poyas and Rhyce Shaw, but his team is due to play South Australia in the opening game.

And South Australia has this wonder kid called Matthew Pavlich who the whole darn carnival is talking about.

Pavlich is more man than boy and, with Josh Fraser from Mansfield, is seen to be a certain top-two pick in the coming draft (Fraser went 1, Pavlich 4 after Paul Hasleby and Aaron Fiora).

So Dickson goes through his team and keeps returning to the same name, that of unfashionable Prahran Dragons defender and occasional ruckman Jason Blake.

Quiet and intelligent, but a long way from being one of the "buzz" players being talked about at the carnival - such as Damian Cupido, Jonathan Brown and Joel Corey - Blake is someone Dickson has come to admire.

He's one of those players who is extremely coachable and one who gives Dickson the impression he will rise to occasions that may initially appear beyond him.

So he puts him on the wonder kid Pavlich and hopes his instincts are right
.

Keep doing your Best Jason...

He'll get a fantastic cheer as he walks up to collect his medal.

Craig Willis' booming voice....

Number 27.....Jaaaason Blake!!!!

I can unashamadely say that I have always loved the BLAKE.

He is my favourite player thanks to the two girls who sit behind me every week and bag him.

I cheer twice as loud for him just to make up for it.

Go the BLAKE.

I recall some saying we'd never win a Premiership with him in the side (embarrassing but true!). I hope to God he proves those people wrong TODAY!!!

Personally I've always thought we wouldn't win one without him!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

One of the best, the Blake.

Read that pece above and looked a t the names. Damian Cupido...A glimpse of something followed by a descent to the big black hole of nothingness... Eats some up, this game, doesn't it.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

What number did we take him in the 99 draft. Wherever it was we've got great value out of him. Would love to see him with a premiership medal around his neck.

Great read. Where on earth did you find it?
