We played out a draw with a rotation down, two effective mid fielders who played forward, ruck, back and middle. But the the pies can only get better?
Look out Pies a pumped up Rooey is coming your way, they say Swan and Didak won't play two average games. A pressure off Nick Riewoldt will bring you pain. Nick Riewoldt will kick 6 and stamp him self as a legend on an over whelmed Presti.

And the Pies don't get an extra day of recovery this week.
So I am super confident we will outplay them in the later stages of the game.
What we have to do is stop them getting away to a flyer.

We banged the bulldogs up pretty badly in the second half. Now I know we hear that maybe more of our players our carrying injuries than theirs.
But I just wonder how banged up they are and if their injuries are worse than ours.
Didak appears to be of most concern to them, Jolly couldn't run the game out, which to me is why McEvoy should play and we should rotate our rucks with McEvoy, Kosi and Blakey.
For me, if they don't jump us this week, or if we can jump them, big advantage us.
Just have to believe we want it more than them.
We want it, they believe they should have it.

Saturday was an emotional rollercoaster - when I knew it would be a draw I almost felt relieved because I knew we'd be coming back this Saturday, and we'd have another chance to start well and take control of the game early.
I am not nervous, not pumped up, not even that excited at this point. What is wrong with me?????

I'm an emotional wreck, but I'm very confident.
For all the talk of Pies having players 'down', there's been little talk of Saints guys who were - in a relative sense - missing.
Gram, Dal, Roo, Montagna and a few of our role players could all lift a notch.
There's no way known we'll play a second quarter like that again. We are too professional.
We have mature, extremely tough and extremely talented leadership that runs deep into our 22.
A fresh ruckman with a high off-the-ball workrate is a massive bonus.
And uncompromised rotation system this week including our usual forward set up.
A good close look at the the Pies system.
Eliminate the panic kicks and keep a lid on the adrenalin and it'll all come down to who recovers better off field.
Given our proven ability to really run games out all year, I'm backing us in by 25 plus.
Roo to kick 5.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

If we get the jump, I'm confident they'd wilt.gringo wrote:We can't let them get away from us early this time. I wouldn't be surprised to see us more like the Geelong qf, go hard early and upset the balance of what the Pies expect. If we could hit them hard early, I don't think psychologically the Pies could back it up.
If they get the jump, we can haul them in.
That said, I'm predicting a grind for the first half before we edge away late.

I feel a bit jittery but have the funny feeling Ross might be planning our early assault in the "fifth quarter of this 8 quarter marathon"
I feel like we have come back from the dead in a fighting effort which is about to swamp the Magpies and dry up their chants this week.
I think they cannot tag ... and if they try we will beat the tags and they will not.
I am confident yet edgy - but so ALIVE!
It is AMAZING times and I feel I am being part of history - hopefully the future will be ours in 5 days. Gilbert to Maxwell - Ray takes Swan or Thomas. Jones takes the other - keep Ball on Goddard and GOOD LUCK!
Try to tag Lennie - see above.

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

I'm feeling very confident! I reckon if if the Pies pull ahead early, they'll run out of legs and we'll reel em back in! I also don't expect the Pies to pull ahead either! Saints to win 30+
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
STRONG TACKLING
Our strength is our tackling in gangs - as long as we do this from the first bounce then I think we will see a new version of apple I mean pie crumble.

if they kick goals instead of points, in the 2nd quarter last week, they would have been up by 40 points or something.Thinline wrote:If we get the jump, I'm confident they'd wilt.gringo wrote:We can't let them get away from us early this time. More or less how I feel.OneEyedSainter77 wrote:For some reason, even more relaxed. But at the same time, a lot less confident.
I think the reason I'm not really nervous is because this doesn't even feel like a Grand Final - it just feels like a normal regular week. And that feels weird.
Like last week felt but at least last week, i knew it was the final game of the eyar (or so I thought) - this week, even though it feels like the season is already over and this week is just a practise match.
I don't think I'll feel it until I head to the match.
There's too much "mateyness" and shared experience with the opposition at the moment...
Either way, we're two hours from a premiership, and that's all that matters.
What an amazing opportunity. Let's not waste it because we are "drained". Let's win it because it's an opportunity that might not come along soon - remember, the comp will be 18 teams in two years' time.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Am I missing the game. Surely it hasnt started?evertonfc wrote:More or less how I feel.OneEyedSainter77 wrote:For some reason, even more relaxed. But at the same time, a lot less confident.

At every stage of this year's footy season it seems the Saints have had major obstacles to climb, as if last year's GF wasn't painful enough. As soon as Rooey did his hammy 'they' were telling us our flag hopes were dashed, that we were a 1 man team. Round 6 the bulldogs thought their game was sewn up and we came back in an amazing last part of the last quarter (happy birthday Dad). Remember how it felt, trudging back to the G to play the cats, the 1st time back since THAT game, how nobody thought the Saints could take on geelong. Not even going to go into the Lovett saga.
Point is, all year nobody has given us a chance. The Saints have climbed their own mountains week in, week out, with last year's GF replaying constantly. We've had to do it with them, week in week out.
Last week I was just one of thousands of Sainters, screaming to the boys "U can do this". I'll be back again this Saturday, screaming all over again because we can and we will do it this year...
I have never been so sure of anything in my life (and i'm not given to collingwood style delusions of grandeur)
Go Saints!!!!!!

Pretty zen last week, no nerves, very confident. This week, pretty zen, no nerves, very confident.
I've had a number of neutrals (not a word from the few Pies supporters I know) state that we played out of our skin, were lucky not to be done by 10 goals, Collingwood won't have an off game again, etc., which has disturbed my zen-like state...so I certainly hope these pricks wake up when we roll the Pies this weekend. I HAS to happen. Ommmmmmm.
