The AFL will award premiership medals to members of the winning team on Saturday and also to players who featured for that club in last week's drawn grand final.
The announcement means for example that should St Kilda's Michael Gardiner be ruled out for this week's replay against Collingwood with a hamstring injury, the ruckman will still receive a winner's medal if the Saints triumph.
