Still feels weird....little bit like a normal game to be honest.....
My main concern this week is that somehow theres a feeling we "got lucky" and that somehow salvaging a draw was the reward????
Just pray the inner sanctum drum home the message - FFS weve lost a GF recently.....Collingwood havent.....I heard Maxwell cr@ping on about their "hurt" well geezus......what "hurt" a draw? try being the dominant side all year as we were in 09 and kick the game away...
Weve achieved nothing yet.

“Yeah….nah””
lucky?
some luck went both ways, but hard work by the team got us in.
they talk about clokes spud kicks, but don't forget we had a few spud kicks at goal and into attack as well.
<shrug>
schneider and fish both muffed opportunities but don't forget, its all about the pies and good on them.
put them under pressure

Drained is the word, I think it would be affecting a lot of supporters - just hopefully not the players
Saturday was an emotional rollercoaster - when I knew it would be a draw I almost felt relieved because I knew we'd be coming back this Saturday, and we'd have another chance to start well and take control of the game early.

yep one minute confident one minute nervous as hell ..
have been watching the replay over and over and i feel differently each time .. did we miss out on our big chance there ? did the pies play sh*t and wont let that happen again ? did we ?
Too many variables to consider .. I cant shake the feeling they overall have more room to improve than we do .. but its really 50/50 ..
Gonna be a long week ..

we showed a lot of character to get back into it with collingwood 24 points up at half time.Teflon wrote:My main concern this week is that somehow theres a feeling we "got lucky" and that somehow salvaging a draw was the reward?.
that they managed only a draw from there, along with the fact that we held them to two goals in the second half gives me some confidence.
i'm feeling drained, but i reckon collingwood supporters are worse off.
the flag will be won by the team that holds its nerve and i reckon we are better placed to do that.
just win it!

I'm concerned about there structures,it's been great all year and we couldn't get past it in the first half. Our foot skills were abysmall and we were found wanting.
We got back into the game on the back of the most extraordinary efforts from Lenny and BJ. Hayes was like a rugby player just trying to will the ball forward our way gaining ground at all costs. He was Kamikaze like. I've never seen a performance of sheer will like that in all my life,it was Rocky Balboa like, except this was not a movie.
Can we maintain another effort like that for 4 quarters next week. If we do we win,but I'm not sure it's possible too see repeat performances like that from Lenny and BJ. If they do,build the statues at Seaford of them now!!!

i wouldn't put it past either of them to back it up. and we have many other players who can play better, including roo (who was good but starved of opportunities). Can we maintain another effort like that for 4 quarters next week. There has been much hype about how poorly the Pois midfield played and next week they'll be better. I think more credit should be given to how we let them play and they may find themselves up against the same defence next week.
I don't know how Lendog and BJ could possibly replicate those efforts. If they do, I'm confident we'll win.

For some reason, even more relaxed. But at the same time, a lot less confident.
I think the reason I'm not really nervous is because this doesn't even feel like a Grand Final - it just feels like a normal regular week. And that feels weird.
Like last week felt but at least last week, i knew it was the final game of the eyar (or so I thought) - this week, even though it feels like the season is already over and this week is just a practise match.

It's not the first time voer this season (and last) that we've kept good teams down to miniscule scores (goals) in the second half of games.
If it was I might be able to accept the media experts' opinion that it was more to do with our opponents than with us.
But how many times can we get so 'lucky'?
Against Collingwood in Rnd 3
Against Western Bulldogs
Against Geelong in Rnd 13
Against Western Bulldogs in the Prelim (I discount tha last 10 minutes)
Against Collingwood in GF1
We must surely be the 'luckiest' team ever assembled?????
Or maybe, just maybe, it's all part of our gameplan to restrict the opposition?
Unfortunately it won't sell as many newspapaers or attract as many viewers/readers if these media experts actually told the truth - St Kilda defensively is 'that good'!

Might explain some of your posts this week?plugger66 wrote:#1GILL wrote:Last week so excited and couldn't wait.

Yep one week to long. Harder to sleep so very tired.
How are things down at HQ at Jihad Stadium?
Much champagne being poured??
Monkey Boy seems to have been pushed into the background by his boss Dimwit???
Was he getting a little too much limelight????
Did our sponsor publish our 'Liftout' today?????
What papers do you buy or TV do you watch. I havent heard anyone say we were more luckier than he Pies. I have heard some say the game could have been over at half time and there is nothing wrong with that. What I have heard is plenty say we now have the momentum. Read what is actually written and hear what is actually said and not what you think is said or written.Mr Magic wrote:It's not the first time voer this season (and last) that we've kept good teams down to miniscule scores (goals) in the second half of games.
