Player rating 1-44 from GF 1
the top levels would not cause much debate
but the bottom 14 could be discussed
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/g ... 5929751064
30 TRAVIS CLOKE: Cost Pies with two simple misses late in second and then missed Dawes early in third. No excuses.
31 SHARROD WELLINGHAM: Only 13 touches and 46 per cent efficiency.
32 BEN JOHNSON: Pies laid 89 tackles. He laid one. Too many clangers as well.
33 FARREN RAY: Extra points for second-half role on Dane Swan, but no attacking impact and gave away costly 50m penalty.
34 HARRY O'BRIEN: Shaky overhead and outmarked by Stephen Milne.
35 CHRIS DAWES: The Pies' No.1 forward target, but he failed to capitalise. Tidy goalkicking deserted him.
36 ANDREW MCQUALTER: Not much of a positive effect, but don't forget he laid 10 tackles. Tick for that.
37 JARRYD BLAIR: Sharp goal in first term, yet got wobbles later. Should have nailed vital set shot late in third term.
38 BRETT PEAKE: Didn't touch it in last term. Only 50 per cent efficency. Kicking poor.
39 DAYNE BEAMS: Only 50 per cent efficiency and three clangers. Won't be this bad again.
40 LEIGH BROWN: We saw some of the old Leigh Brown. Little influence and five clangers.
41 LEON DAVIS: A non-event. Looked lost and only a final-term snap goal saved him from last spot.
42 ROBERT EDDY: Went in as 44th-ranked player. Played true to form, but was stiff with last-term poster. Does he hang on?
43 JASON GRAM: Only had 11 touches at 45 per cent efficiency. Turnovers killed him. Surely not fit.
44 MICHAEL GARDINER: Played only 32 minutes before departing injured. Struggled on Jolly anyway. Has to be last.

Pleased that Harry wasn't an influence- but if Eddy was on him - then maybe Robshould be higher.

St Kilda Player ratings:
Jason Gram - (8 kicks, 3 handballs, 1 mark) - 3 - Had little or no impact on the match. Looked to be struggling with the groin injury which has caused him problems throughout the finals series and couldn't chase at one stage.
Zac Dawson - (3 kicks, five handballs, 4 marks) - 3 - Struggled on his opponents and while he worked hard didn't look comfortable on the big stage again.
Sam Gilbert - (9 kicks, 7 handballs, 4 marks) - 6 - Did a few good things and kicked an important goal in the third quarter to get the Saints back in the contest. Improved as the match wore on and was one of the better players in the second half.
Jason Blake - (5 kicks, 7 handballs, 3 marks) - 4 - Played better than in last year's Grand Final, but was called into the ruck after Michael Gardiner was injured which made it very difficult for him to play his usually strong role across half back.
Sam Fisher - (22 kicks, 3 handball, 8 marks) - 7 - Got a heap of the ball and was generally a very effective rebound player for much of the match
........
can't believe how they got Dawson wrong giving him only 3.

Luke Ball is upset that he only got 65% game time.stkildathunda wrote:That stunned me,i dont recall seeing Swan except first 5mins of the game. Luke Ball only played 65% of the game and had no influence..stevie wrote:Swan ranked number 4 on the ground? Ball 26?
Looks like this journo watched the same game as Reilly the NS voter...
His agent is trying to persuade Gold Coast to make Collingwood an offer for him.
Maybe Collingwood will accept pick 30 for Ball.

apparently GCs have offered collingwood a pork roll and a pick 97 and think its outrageous and disrespectful to luke that the pies don't acceptace wrote:Luke Ball is upset that he only got 65% game time.stkildathunda wrote:That stunned me,i dont recall seeing Swan except first 5mins of the game. I heard that Norh Melbourne has offered Collingwood a sausage and a free grand final seat.
That values Ball at about $1,500.

the herald sun had player ratings. the one about brett peake was horrible i know he didn't have a great game but still. this is what it said
39
"Back to the kiddies pool. Simply out of his depth and his kicking was a liability"
they only put in 3 players under 50 for the collingwood team and 7 saints players under 50.
ridiculous really.

The HUN should do a journo rating.
I'll start with a worst on ground thumbs down to
D. Brereton 11 out of 100. Back to the bar for the graceless old mutton face. Started the week with a definitive loss to the Saints, "Saints will lose by at least 6 goals and even if Riewoldt kicks 6 they won't win. Kosi would need to kick 5 and Riewoldt 8 for the Saints to be in it."
Please feel free to add to the ratings.

Both On The Couch & Footy Classified mentioned it last night stevie.stevie wrote:While some people prolly don't like Mark Robinson - personally, i think he's ok, a bit melo-dramatic a times - I liked how he gave kudos to Grammie for that late spoil in the dying seconds.
No other journo mentioned it probably cos they weren't at the friggin' game...
Gerard Healy & Gary Lyon in particular highlighted Gram's decision to leave his man and go for the ball as gutsy and a game saver.
I couldn't really see it myself from the other side of the ground but have now come to appreciate this decisive moment.
Similarly, the more I look at the Milne situation the move I get p.ssed at those commentators/experts who are crirtical of his decision not to attack the ball. I mean, Lenny's kick had 2 Leigh Brown bounces, each in an opposite direction. Give the guy a break!

Rielly must have been in the bar the whole time. I actually had Goddard as the Norm Smith as he seemed to do the flashier stuff on the day. That grab alone made him stand out.
As for dale Thomas, he seemed do a couple of good things, yet I heard a few Journos saying he was best on ground, I thought he had about 22 possies.
I wouldn't want to split Lenny and BJ though.
