Re: Second Ruck for 2020 and beyond
Paddy Ryder from PA might be getable. And he's a similar type of player to RoMa ... they could rotate through the FP & provide a tall option giving Skunk license to roam far and wide.

Re: Do We Have A Rubbish Team And Will A New Coach Make A Difference?
We have a list full of mediocre players. That makes us a mediocre team. We don't, IMO, have a single A grade player on the list. We have some kids with talent that needs development. They may end up A grade, but until that happy day arrives I doubt we play finals. Our ladder position is a reasonable...

Not too sad that Hickey is gone, he wan't much good when the going got tough.

Re: Well done Richo!
Kicking has been an issue over all of Richo's tenure. It has been a problem for years. And usually the head coach isn't the development coach, although certainly is responsible for overall development. I would agree we've not shown much of that this year in particular. But the only person who can ex...

Re: Well done Richo!
How about we place the blame where it actually lies? Our playing group have appalling skills collectively. Only they can fix that. No coach can make you kick straight ... only work on technique and mental application. It is still on the player to execute, and ours just don't. Richo has his faults no...

Certainly late ... no argument possible there. Didn't look like he hit Saad in the head, so can't see how it was high. But we usually get screwed royally at the tribunal, so expect a 4 week penalty.

Re: Hickey dominated Nic Nat
Hickey didn't dominate anyone last week, but he was OK. Not brilliant, but OK. He gets pushed around too easily by stronger-bodied opponents (NicNat for one) but does offer something around the ground. He's clearly better than both Marshall & Billy, which doesn't make him great, but he's the bes...

Re: How close is Richo to the exit?
I'm not quite sure why a gameplan that worked so well against the eventual premiers 13 games ago is so out of date now. Folks seem to think a coach is also a miricle worker, but if the players can't hit targets and goals with any regularity no gameplan will work. No doubt the coaching staff have muc...

Re: Trade back into the Superdraft!!!!!
what a load of crap Long 6 games 79 disposals, 4 goals 3 behinds Billings 6 games 124 disposals, 4 goals 11 behinds. 2 weeks ago everyone on here was saying that Long should be delisted, on the back of 2 good games he's all of a sudden a better player than Billings. Another example of knee jerk rea...

Re: Selection
So of the 2 Hickey offers more than Billy. Play him & Marshall together which gives us a second marking target up forward with Paddy. Use Membrey as the mobile target, as that's his strength, not the big park mark. I agree McEvoy beat Hickey overall but Hickey contributed around the ground, and ...

Re: Trade back into the Superdraft!!!!!
Billings for mine. Just hasn't delivered, and doesn't look like it. Could be worth a top 10-20 pick. Surely we have enough non-performing HFFers, but at this stage Long is playing well in advance of Billings and he just shouldn't be given this is JB's 5th year, so I reckon he's expendable. I'd keep ...

Quite similar to Billings in general.

Re: No Dunstan!!
I would have preferred Marshall coming in as the 2nd ruck/forward. Thought that worked so much better than Bruce going into the ruck. That hasn't worked for 2 seasons and will never work. Question: Does Grigg set up work at the premiers????? Indeed. And for some of the game last night it was Shai B...

Re: Riewoldt: Seaford ‘crushed’ the playing group
Well, you cant change the past, so it is what it is. I'll take Rooey's word that it "crushed the players" but IMHO it probably shouldn't have. While I agree Seaford's location wasn't preferable the facilities compared to the crappy Linton Street facilities at that time were considerably be...

Re: JLT Match Thread Saints v Blues 2018
I agree with Richo's summary in his member's message; Carlton were better than us overall and in particular handled the conditions far better tha we did. We look one-paced (Steven excepted) and basically have a plodding midfield crew. We badly need some pace in there. Our forward line doesn't look d...

Re: Hows the blocking working Tony74
Melbourne aren't what I would call "Big Boys" and we are clearly a couple of rungs below them. For at least a half of footy we were just insipid. Fumbles, clangers, crap goal kicking; we gave a clinic on rubbish footy today. We copped our right whack unfortunately, and we sit where we dese...

And Acres will be a star. I've heard this from many Saints folk, and I just don't see it. Acres without doubt has talent (not the least is he's a decent set shot) but just does too many dumb things to merit potential star annointment. That handball at CHF to a guy next to a PA player when running t...

Re: Spear tackle on Geary
Geary jumped in the air before being tackled around the waist and taken to ground. He wasn't dumped head first so no spear tackle. Frankly it wasn't even a free kick IMO. And no, I don't have a boner for Heeney or in fact any AFL player. I just try to see things factually rather than emotionally. YM...

Re: Our Moneyball type rebuild has failed.
Really the OP is both true and not true. I agree we lack top end talent at present, and have far too many B graders who are GOPS. We do need another 2/3 A graders to be a genuine flag threat at all, let alone any sort of Favourite. On exposed form this year we are not good enough overall to play fin...
