Re: Billings
I'm trying to be patient with Billings, but I'm not seeing enough signs often enough. Other than that one quarter against the Bulldogs he's never really taken the game by the scruff of the neck and really dominated.

Re: Midfield still a worry
Other than Steven, we don't really have a damaging midfielder.

Re: Midfield still a worry
Too many one paced midfielders without enough polish. This won't be the midfield that wins our next flag. To improve we need to recruit 2-3 gun free agent midfielders.

Re: Seb Ross stepping it up
I've never been a big wrap for Ross but I'm very quickly changing my mind given the form he's shown to date this season. He's winning the hard ball in and under, getting out into space a lot more and using the ball much better by foot. I had him BOG at 3QT yesterday against Collingwood, but unfortun...

Re: How much of that $2.5B will come our way
One good suggestion on the radio this evening was an early buy out of Etihad Stadium so that tenants like the Saints can get a better deal and in turn run more profitably without needing handouts.

Re: Weller out (Curren in)
It's not like we are short on youth, I don't understand why people are calling the selection conservative, how many players with under 50 games experience do we need? 12 or so this week? Spot on! As the Herald Sun reported during the week, our team last week was our youngest since 2004 with over ha...

Re: Who plays Stanley's role now?
I don't think any of our ruckman (Hickey, Longer, Holmes) can play forward for any extended period and equally I don't think any of our key forwards (Riewoldt, Bruce, Lee, White) can play as a relief ruckman. Let's say we play with 3 key forward and one ruckman. That ruckman, whether it is Hickey or...

Re: Free Agency - Luke Ball thanks for stuffing the comp
It's a pity we didn't cash out BJ a year later once we were closer to bottoming out and we'd have got a much higher pick for him.

Re: Free Agency - Luke Ball thanks for stuffing the comp
Franklin, Frawley and Goddard were all compensated with round one picks commensurate with where their team was on the ladder. Higgins and Dal Santo are nearly cooked so only rated worth a second round pick. I would have thought Waite warranted a second round pick too, so Carlton are a bit stiff (but...

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
Jaksch for a 2 pick demotion would be worth it. There probably isn't much difference between 22 and 24 and we'd come away with an extra young player. Picks 1 and 24 plus Jaksch almost counts as 3 picks in the top 20.

Re: Free Agency - Luke Ball thanks for stuffing the comp
It's not about Frawley being worth pick #3. In the free agency model the lower teams are over compensated for losing players because they are behind the 8-ball to begin with while the upper teams get under compensated because they are already up and about and don't need the extra help. Given that pr...

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
I get that we have the room on our list. I was thinking more about the need to give up quality to get quality. With that in mind, I don't see how we can maintain our draft picks and bring in good young kids via trades unless we are giving up quality established players in return. We might get a late...

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
I can't see how we can keep pick #1, trade for the likes of Membrey, Jaksche or O'Rourke and maintain a few draft picks for young prospects unless we're trading out a couple of quality players or marching somebody to the PSD.

Re: Tim membrey
I think we are still searching for a productive middle-size forward and Membry may be worth the risk. TDL and Milera didn't do the job and Siposs really hasn't made much of a statement when given the chance. From the little I've seen of Membrey he looks to be a strong marking tall forward in the bo...

It's easy to sit behind your keyboard and take pot shots. How about you share all your wisdom and tell us all what Richo should be doing? Make a constructive comment.WinnersOnly wrote:There is a reason Richardson took so long to get a senior gig is that he has NFI about the game!

Kosi - these edicts aren't "rules". They are just flavour of the month "interpretations". As the months and seasons change - so do the interpretations. These are the days of our AFL. Exactly! What happened to hands in the back? What happened to chopping the arms? What happened t...

Re: Simpkin as a forward?
Great idea. He's stuck 3 or 4 deep and boxed in on the rails trying to get a run as a tallish defender once everybody is fit and in the meantime we're crying out for a lead up 3rd tall forward. I'd be happy to give Siposs a few games in a row as a "now or never" opportunity but let's have ...

Re: Carlton Game Thread
We've gone in too top heavy in defence (mainly due to injury) and their mobile forwards are cutting us up on the quick ball rebounding from our turnovers. We need to spread better to get the ball out in space where we can use it more cleanly under less pressure. Everything at the moment is "kic...

I find it strange that Savage was given 5 games to prove himself and Simpkin only got one...what's with that? I The Bruce for Simpkin selection is an interesting one. Bruce played okay his previous game but was dropped in favour of Simpkin. Now one week later they reverse the selections. Is it hors...
