Re: One for Dermie
Dermie likes to think that the Hawthorn culture was so strong back when he played and this is the reason they were so strong. In part this is true. The biggest reason they were so successful in his era was because of the recruiting zoning laws. Ian Stewart when he was at the Saints as an administrat...

Can anyone else remember the news letter that one of the supporter groups used to hand out in the old days at Waverley. It was early in 1997 and they had an interview with Lazar in the publication. In the interview lazar said that if he ever got to play his last game in a Grand final, he would guara...

The new facility is opposite Belvadere Reserve right next to the nature reserve. If you click onto the map link you can see how close the new Freeway is to the facility. Can any of the older people remenber the Sports Shop that was owned and opereated by the club back in the seventies. It was manage...

Thanks for the pics Pwoit. The place looks soul-less, depressing and as though it's in an Industial area. -The complete opposite to the Junction Oval. Not alot we can do about it now, what's done is done The pictures show one angle. On one side of the oval is a Primary School. On the other side is ...

The facility does look OK. BUT - it isn't in our traditional heartland I assume you are talking about Junction Oval. No way that was going to happen given our budget. - it is a long way from our supporter base Since the Saints came to Moorabbin, we have owned the Peninsula. I drive through Franksto...

I can't understand why all the negative comments about Seaford. When Peninsula Link is finished it will be very easy to get to from anywhere in Melbourne. All the posters here seem to be under the impression that everyone wants to live close to the city. I went to visit a mate in Richmond 2 weeks ag...

In my opinion, anyone who plays in a winning grand final team should get a Gold medallion. Anyone who plays a senior game should get a silver medallion and everyone else who is employed in the running of the club should get a bronze medallion. All sponsors should get some sort of framed memorabilia....

The Geelong Game. If you get a chance to view that game again, take it. The quality of football from both sides was incredible. I have never seen a better quality game. A mate of mine who follows Richmond told me to watch the game again and forget that I followed the Saints. Just watch it and analiy...

As the top eight stands at the moment, we have played every side except Geelong. Of the eight teams outside the final eight, we have played 1, North Melbourne. In the remaining games we only play 4 sides that are presently in the eight, Dockers, Geelong, Collingwood and Port Adelaide. We have 11 gam...

A few years ago their was a Sydney player who was injured and he refused to allow any information about the injury to be released. He simply disappeared off the clubs list until he returned to play. This was my family. It was the first time I had been back at St Kilda since leaving the club at the end of 2002 … and not a word was said about my absence. There was many a ‘Welcome back, glad to see you here!’, which made we feel very welcome. There remains a big place in my heart for the St ...

As a general rule in any sport, I normally find that players that have just finished playing make the best commentators. Tim Lane is paid by his employer to write opinion stories. He has the choice to write well researched stories backed up by facts, or write stories based on based on innuendo and guess work. He chose the latter. It is very easy to judge things that have happened in the past with today’s standards. ...
