Re: Rookie Ruckman We Are Into

Absolute nonsense that GT did not rate ruckmen He just didn’t rate our ruckmen (Knobel/Ackland) or any average players who just tapped the ball. Tap ruckmen are a liability and the most overrated players in the game I disagree with you about tap ruckmen. You obviously have never played footy. You o...

Re: Rookie Ruckman We Are Into

Can someone help this old fella's memory out. Did Jason Blake ruck under Ross Lyon or GT ? I recall GT did not rate ruckman. Blake may have been retired before Ross was on board. Jason was far from a big strong ruckman but had a great leap and was ultra-competitive with great endurance. He rucked ag...

Re: Jack Carroll

I think Carroll will be an astute pick up for us. He was clearly teetering on the edge of their 22 (10 games as sub in 2024), and he and his management probably saw the writing on the wall when they scored Pick 3 from WCE for a top end midfielder from the draft that he would also need to compete wi...

Re: Rookie Ruckman We Are Into

He played full back for Werribee as an 18/19 year old. My VFL insider says he is surprised how big he has become. Only 2 AFL sides in the SANFL suggests his competition in the ruck was not elite (that is what I was told - I know nothing about SANFL). Compared him to Nick Meese at Williamstown. He sa...

Re: 2025 Fixture

You don't think our list will develop further next year? That some clubs may go backwards? That our list may be stronger post draft with 2 top 10 picks. The top 10 are ready to go in this draft. That we don't have a top-line coach ? I have a different view but so be it. I am bullish.

Re: 2025 Fixture

Glastonbury car park - hahaha
When I was a wee fella, my mates and I would stroll over from Mulgrave FC to Waverley and often help push out a bogged car for a couple of dollars.
Nearly as dirty as the fans at the Old Den down at Millwall.

Re: Brad Crouch?!

He is not playing.
He is owed 'next year's salary' due to triggering his contract for another year. I assume that's why he is now a 'non-playing' Rookie.
There appears to be some financial gurus on this site who can explain.

Re: Brad Crouch?!

Love it Skeptic. I have heard the local community is also hopeful that he might be able to retain his allegiance to the red, white & black colors and pull on the mighty saints ( Carngham Linton Football Netball Club) strip in 2026.
No pressure on Brad. Couple of flags :)

Re: Number of list spots??

Yeah, good points. You're a smart man. I think I was emotive hearing the news yesterday and was worried that lack of draft picks meant we would add in recycled players from other clubs. I am all for 'draft & develop'. My younger mate at work was a top footballer (on-baller) at Werribee and we we...

Re: Number of list spots??

I know. However, I would love to know what the grand plan is. It looks like the club has backed RTB & SOS right in. I doubt a first-year coach would get these credits in the bank. High stakes.

Re: Number of list spots??

I joking told my Carlton mate SOS is clearing out the list. His response: "Well mate he filed our list with about a dozen GWS cast offs from the group that made up their inaugural list when he was list manager there but unfortunately most ended up being list cloggers so hope you have better luc...

Re: Happy 80th Big Kev Billing - 1966 Premiership

Yeah, it would be hard not getting on the field. I think that happened with a Melbourne player recently. I asked him about his career - how many flags he played in - 1/ Played in the Saints Reserves Premiership (got pissed for a week he said) 2/ Sat on the pine during 66 (said he was lucky to get pi...

Re: 1966 ABC Grand Final broadcast. Full game.

Thank you so much Kosi for the link. Appreciated. You all make some valid points about the game. My father played in this era for the Saints, and he has nothing but admiration for the current skill level. Just to put in perspective - - Pre-season started end of Jan back then - 3 Months they did noth...
