Re: New Zealand Updates
I am happy to see the AFL committing resources to this, the fact that they are talking to the broadcaster in NZ is a welcome sign. For the last 2 years coverage in NZ has been shocking. One match a week would be shown on delay at midnight Monday. In addition to that there were no finals coverage at...

Re: 4 losses in a row coming up
I don't think we are that bad at the moment, any team on any given day are beatable. A tough win against a big opponent will help get the season back on track. There is still plenty of time to turn things around.
As always...go Saints.

At the end of the Bulldogs game a group of immature prepubescent pups were abusing some young Saints girls by saying the club was a bunch of rapists and rudely gesturing to their crotches. My cousin was at a game against Sydney last year where an opposition supporter was whispering into her mobile t...

As much as I think a push in the NZ market could work with the right AFL support here and on the ground in NZ at all levels of the game and with a genuine long term plan by the club (not just a get rich quick scheme)....at what point is the club going to ask if the supporters want to move home games...

Re: Piss weak Saints fans......
It was a shocking turn up of Saints fans...and the cheer squad as unusually small as well. Was there an issue there? Or Did it look small in a bigger stand? But as has been pointed out most Saints fans don't like the G. Yet here we are bitching that we don't get blockbuster games...yet we had a chan...

Re: What do we take from this???
Early days of course...but the signs are good and isn't it nice to have a good start to the season? If we can win a couple more before that game at the G and if the Hawks keep going strong...we will have the G rocking. Thank god it's a home game...good chance for a nice pay cheque for the club. Each...

Re: Fair enough - its just the bulldogs but...
It was good to see the boys enjoy their footy as well. Yes it was just the doggies, but it appears that people not only underestimated the boys this week but overestimated the Dogs. The next couple of weeks will give a good indication of how the boys are tracking...in saying that it was still a good...

Re: Decisions, decisions!!
Until the club develops a significant non football based revenue stream we are at the mercy of a crowded sponsorship market, a fickle membership base, a s*** house stadium deal, a biased schedule and a woeful assets base which is draining money rather than adding to the coffers. Tasmania didn't work...

Re: Saints to play home game in NZ on ANZAC day
Nettlefold and Co. must look at getting a better deal (again somehow if possible, it might not be) at Etihad as we want the best opportunity to win games of football and that stadium provides it. the saints don't exactly have a strong negotiating position in discussions with docklands: saints: &quo...

Re: Saints to play home game in NZ on ANZAC day
If this is to work, the only place it can work is in Wellington as they tend to support diverse sports more then any other city in NZ. What were the figures for the Ansett Cup match played when the stadium in Wellington first opened? Random fact: AFL was the first sport played in that stadium.

Re: Saints to play home game in NZ on ANZAC day
With the right sponsors, partners and opponants this could work well. I believe that this hinges on at leastt 5,000 fans split between the two teams to make the journey from Melbourne to Wellington...that is a huge undertaking in itself in terms of flights and accomodation. One big question is the c...

Re: Saints to play home game in NZ on ANZAC day
There is a huge untapped talent base here in New Zealand that the club should access before anyone else.It is too large for the NRL and NZRU to fully absorb. The popular image of large Maori and Pacific Island men is not always the case. There is an entire generation of slim, athletic Maori boys pe...
