Re: Vent your spleen right here right now
You know what hurts the most. In 2009 they beat us in the GF. Since then they have missed the Finals once. We've made the Finals three times. Since our inception, we've been poorly run, and poorly managed. Ratten and the players are just the end result. I turn 60 on Wednesday, and the way I'm feelin...

Re: Players not worth bothering with any more
It really doesn't matter who we would recruit. We can't develop footballs. Hell, we can't even keep the players on the Park? King - Once in a generation pick - would be already leading the AFL goal kicking if he was at most other clubs. Hannaberry would have played three to four times more at most o...

He's right.
Why do we continually accept mediocrity?
Oh yes - idiots like the above posts that are happy that we might win 8 to 10 games a year.
SydneySainter is right. We should be intolerant of mediocrity.

Happy if we are 7 and 4. Rapped if we are 8 and 3. If we are 6 and 5, we are no better than last year.

Simply, because you don't need to be a Member to have feelings for your Club.
Let it go Trev - we are all hurting - Members or Non Members. I live in Jamieson - I'm not becoming a Member anytime soon, but I still love St.Kilda.
But it hurts - Oh so Much Pain.

So, Where are We?
Last year, we beat Fremantle, Richmond, Hawthorn, GWS, and Gold Coast. Same sides as we have beaten this year. Really, where has there been an improvement from last year to this year? I thought this year, a fitness level will make a huge difference. Not after tonight. Seriously we need to get rid of...

Re: So typical St Kilda…
I'm so sick and tired losing to Port like that. No will to win in a close game. We've been playing like Princes when we are really Paupers. A good side would not lose after being a point up with 1:30 to go. Hurting terribly, when I thought we turned a corner - however methinks the same circle of med...

The Perfect Weekend
Saturday night. First Heidelberg Concert since Covid began. Good crowd and the orchestra played really well. Lovely drive back to Jamieson today through Warburton and Eildon to Warburton Road. Then watched us absolutely kill Hawthorn. Some of the best Footy I have seen us play for quite some time. T...

BM. You are right in a way. Players should not have to be motivated by Coaches. But unfortunately, some do. However if you had 22 players committed to playing their best that they can, it becomes a bit of a GWS curse. Individualism does not win Premierships. We now have a backline coach that is comb...

I am not happy. First year in the Comp, pretty good. Second year in the Comp, falling away. Third year in the Comp - For the most part uncompetitive. I've seen the deterioration of this team for the last couple of years - losing to Carlton like that, I can't stomach. What is Dal Santo doing??? No he...

Wow. I wasn't at the game in 2009, but watched it on TV. Pretty much our worst performance for the entire year. If you can get your hands on the 97 PF, much better to watch. Thought we were certainties to win the flag at 3 quarter time, our third quarter was so good (Hell, Wrong Again.)

Re: Changes for Geelong game
I don't admire Ross. Does some clever stuff at times, but overall he is a liability. After Steele became an elite player, and we added Jones and Crouch in there, what was there left for Seb? Become a tagger, a job that he is not equipped for. The games the opposition have got a run on against us, he...

Get rid of Billings definitely.
For all of the promise and skills he has shown over the years, he plays "SCARED".

Not Good Enough (Or Was It????)
Left torn between the two - especially at half time. 28 points down, couldn't defend, or get anywhere near the ball. After half time, I gave up listening to the game (I'm from Jamieson Victoria). I had beers on the balcony with my Housemate (Scottish, and barracks for no one in particular). I plead ...

Samuraisaint - You forget 2005 - 6 and 7 to 14 and 8 with the loss against Whispers in the Sky.
Unfortunately, injuries killed us (and that thug, called Barry Hall).

Re: The Interesting Thing About Saturday Night
I'm surprised about Byrnes. He's been a real solid contributor for a guy who has played less than 10 games. Midfield depth looking threadbare six weeks ago to now. Steele, Crouch, Jones, Ross, now Byrnes, and possibly Bytel, Hannebury (if we could be so lucky), and Gresham. Let Clark and Coffield de...

Best since the trio of MacIntosh, Ditterich, and Mynott, and that was back in 71.

Re: Butler's move
I'd drop Butler. A few times on Saturday night, he did the same things as last year except the ball hasn't gone his way. Not saying that he is a poor player - far from it, but his confidence is down, and Higgins has performed better. Reset him for the last few rounds this year, or early next year - ...

The Interesting Thing About Saturday Night
Not sure why, but in terms of our best players, this is the way it panned out. First Quarter. Dunstan played an absolute blinder. Hard, aggro, and prolific. Second Quarter. Billings. For the first time in a month, he showed what he is capable of - insiders get it right, and he can do his own thing. ...

Re: So, where to from here?
I also thought that we'd make top 4 this year. Then I thought that we were simply no good - no heart, and mentally soft. Apart from our great win, consider: Richmond losing from being well ahead (go Harves!!!). Gold Coast beating GWS. I would not discount North beating West Coast tomorrow evening. W...

Sorry guys. In my time: Saw South Melbourne as a basket case in 1981 get sent off to Sydney (we're they've won 2 premierships since. Brisbane (with Fitzroy players) win three premierships. In my time: Collingwood beats St.Kilda after being 52 points just before half time in 1970. 1979 - Collingwood beats us by 178 points. 1985 - Carlton beats us by 140 points in Round 2, after losing to Sydney by over 100 points in Round 1 1999 - Hawthorn beats us after leading by 63 points early in t...

Hopeless this afternoon. Hardly got the ball, and did nothing with it - He's a better player than that. Should he have played??? Notice that King was listed with a back injury, should he have played??? Injuries occur, but we don't manage them. I'd much rather beat Adelaide next week (a winnable game...

Re: We're not Fit
Injuries are symptomatic generally of poor training routines.
Our injuries are horrific, but for the most part, could have been preventable.
If this isn't fixed soon, we're stuffed for another five years.
