Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

It’s a cricket ground We left there in 65 because it was a cricket ground This has to be the oddest and yet most annoying meme ever.. All football grounds are based on cricket grounds. The MCG has cricket games in it, as do almost ever other football ground in the AFL heartland. One big difference ...

Re: sad news

Thanks asiu (and Gaz) You were fearless, generous, honest, open minded and funny. I am completely shocked, as most of us will be. We've lost one of the best. I've been away, but from my own selfish POV, he was one person I wanted to speak to again here and anywhere And certainly hoped so Again we ar...

Re: The Windies are back..so good.

Let's look at TV Ratings and YouTube views as an indicator of interest in test cricket when a 'minnow' plays a 'giant'. Now let's consider this BEFORE the miracle win by the Windies last week. (its effect will cascade forward though) The TV ratings were right up there with the Australian Open. Over ...

So then, In so far as we have a full fit and firing forward line, with no doubts about their conditioning and fitness for round one, we can truly say Tim Membrey is back! Higgo is Tip Top And Vorts favorite, the fabulous Cooper S Sharmanator is polishing his boots (with mirrors) and silver plating h...

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

King picked 6 of the top 8 in his predictions for ‘23. He made some good calls. (Of course, he can go to the fairy floss fair too..but good analysis is also a trait..or was) Which did he get wrong? My guess is us and GWS, Geelong/Richmond? If David doesn't change his shtick he could easily be repla...

Re: Mid-season trading - some misgivings

It will screw up my selection competition if I run it again. and Terry Rules, where are you? (Champion of '23 Season) A local potter made you a sake bottle. They have never made any design like it before. I requested red, white and black stripes. It came back pink, grey, and navy, as is the way thei...

Re: Something Personal

We've played eight Grand Finals, and I've been at seven of them. For some reason I missed 1913. So glad I was there in '66 and later at Sierakowski's pub on Nepean Highway Brighton, at the ripe old age of 16, probably the first time I got drunk! Bloody excellent. Someone should ask saynta about the...

Re: Bet the house on Ross

I personally would have stuck with Watters. I miss his moronic press conferences. Watters seemed to have a demeanor similar to James Hird under fire. Incredibly calm. No Mitch Marsh, no Shamar Joseph, but incredibly cool. If a cop pulls you over for speeding, that is the kind of face I would like h...

Re: “Get up, get up. We don’t f***ing do that here”

I am aboard the Ross train. We will see. I don’t think improvement is only measured by a flag. Progress up the ladder is relative improvement, over a three or four year stretch. (We can have lucky or unlucky years, but not lucky ‘three years’) * So we will see. One thing I am concerned about is inju...

Re: Bet the house on Ross

I can't wait for Footy Classified. When does it start? The talk-fest, speculation, politics and banter on shows like Classified are a distant second to the actual footy. I don't care whether I watch it or not Oh...and I certainly don't care for the gossip and drama. If you're into that sort of thin...

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

Anyone of my vintage would know (born '63), that St Kilda were sliding into the abyss just as we were hitting our teen years. We were too young for the glory, but now, he were gutted. Then came the 1978 season.... And it was as if we were back. Although we fell in a mighty hole mid-season, we recove...

Re: Bet the house on Ross

Luke Beveridge's (at Footscray) position as number one media target is in intact.

They carefully baked the nice-guy-cuddly Ross thing last year to have a plump target ready for this year's duck shoot.

Re: Bet the house on Ross

Hands up who could see a shade of pink in the water, (Richo’s blood) when Ratts was appointed assistant as Richo’s assistant? I’m sure Richo could, and Ratts could too. As for Cornes It was sharp To say that it “might work (The Ross Rule) , but it won’t last. It’ll be a brief thing” because it’s a o...

Re: How about this West Indies team!

Test cricket is the real deal T20s are boring and irrelevant. Would you see a 7 for in that garbage Only people who like t20s are non cricket fans who don’t appreciate the game! If it wasn't for T20, cricket would be bankrupt But these young stars are showcasing themselves and building a legacy tha...

Gotta say..
What a surprise both Pakistan and the Windies are?
These tests are good.

I suppose the moment they get famous, they’ll be lost to T20, but still!

it.

Re: Who is the most power weilding person at a footy club and why.?

I suppose the AFL and perhaps the media ?? Are committed or mutually understand each other so that their model would never collapse in the face of pressure to create ann English Premier League type situation. 14/20 EPL clubs are now owned by foreign interests. Newcastle were languishing, debt ridden...

Serious hypothetical What if Donald Trump - seriously people, please consider this - what if Donald Trump offered to run St Kilda Footy club? Would you accept? Let's say his lawyers quickly got connected and keyed into the mechanics of the deal. They read the cosnstitution and know they need to form...
