Re: Teams for Dees

While I don’t want to be accused as flying the flag for Newnes as I agree that his season has been poor , I understand that the coaching staff were very pleased with his game against the Dogs where he stopped Johanisons run off the back line. I believe Johanison had 44 possessions the week before.

A big wrap for Blake. Does look like he’s in 2nd gear sometimes but reminds me a bit of David Reece jones or , dare I say , Nicky Winmar. Expect some big things in the next couple of seasons.

Re: The Curse of FitzSimons

Something to be said that our current malaise started with the Carlton game and the failure of the club hierarchy to back its players in circumstances where there were many grey areas. To see Finnis and Richardson so quickly fall to their knees begging forgivenesss was pretty hard for many supporter...

The umpires particularly number 15 just destroyed the game as a spectacle. Very disappointing end to a cracker first half

Re: St Kilda v Richmond Maddie's Match Game Thread

For what it's worth I thought we lost a fair bit at the selection table. Having Riewoldt , McCartin and Bruce together in the forward line didn't seem to work particularly when Lonie was struggling. Richmond backs just had too much poise and time to run out of defence and then the Tigers were able t...

Re: Should the remainder of this round be cancelled?

The round should be cancelled. It is simply too much to ask the many people across many teams who will have been seriously impacted by this death to front up this weekend. While I appreciate the "game must go on "sentiments I don't think this is a case for that approach. It was a fitting t...

Re: Umpires must be reviewed.

While you do need to cut the umpires some slack I got to say it was the worst umpiring I have seen for some time. Some of the frees to west coast particularly in the first quarter were mystifying aas were the lack of frees to us. I think one of the problems is that we seem to get the junior/poor ump...

Re: What to do with Gilbert

Very surprised with a number of the comments on Gilbert. Given we have a team that lacks pace and key defenders surely we cant contemplate trading someone who has both can we? I also don't buy into the argument that his poor disposal outweighs his positives. I think he has improved his disposal , bu...

Well done Lenny. You will join an impressive list of champion one club men. Your long history as a great player and club man will endure long after the disappointment of not achieving a grand final win has long gone.

Cant believe some of these posts. Montagna has stuck with us for the duration when I am sure he has had lucrative offers from elsewhere. He's been in our top 5 players ( or thereabouts) for most of the journey. A few bad games and you want to chop his head off. IMO we need him more than ever now.

While I agree that Joey had a shocker yesterday it seemed to be the accumulation of getting injured during the game/heavily tagged/having an off day. He should play this week if fit , his experience warrants inclusion particularly if Lenny remains out.

Seb Ross far too slow for mine. Very odd selection given the rest of the midfield lacks pace , other than Jack. Not sure what Dunnel needs to do to get a run.

I would like to see Dunnel get a run this week and for a few games after that. He was the only shining light for sandringham on the weekend. IMO he should be preferred to Schneider.

Re: Carlton Game Thread

Much as I love/agree with young players getting a game they all look pretty hesitant this week and last. Seem to be waiting for the ball to be in control of the opposition before reacting for most part. Also think that the second efforts in defence are not there . Very disappointing for mine

v. difficult to judge Gwilts and Simkins games from last week - lets face it they were getting constantly bombarded by some pretty slick midfielders and forwards ( and even Gibson at one point!) I feel for Simpkin and feel he's been harshly dealt with after only one game. Gwilt as always looked terr...
