This week makes 7 games in a debut season for Jack Newnes. Can't remember the last time that happened at the Saints (though I'm sure some of the learned scholars here can help me with that!).

I see that as a big step forward from the Rossy days and am already looking forward to next year.

Really see a lot of potential in both of these guys. In terms of comparisons to current players (however premature) I can really see Cripps developing into a Montagna type; swift on the outside and a keen eye for the goal. Just needs to maintain that confidence that he seemed to have yesterday again...

Agree. Love the effort and skills the lad has. Another couple of preseasons and some bulk will see him as a very good player imo

Leaves me feeling oddly hollow after the way Newnes and Simpkin have played over the last few weeks... Very happy with the ins and not sure who I would have taken out instead of them, but hollow nonetheless.

He did however play most of the night on Jake King, who failed to score a goal, and had far fewer possessions. Considering the size difference that's a fairly decent result.

83% disposal efficiency from 18 touches aint half bad (though granted a few of them were 2m handpasses). A bit intimidated? Yes. Composed? Moreso than others. Gonna be a very good player imo.

I think if all of our players tried as hard as Newnes, and could kick as straight then the result would be far better...

Was at the game and at this stage would rather have a raw Newnes/Siposs in our team than an insipid Gram (despite a few bursts) or an under confident Gilbert. Also, did Stevens appear hurt on TV? Looked very different to previous weeks.
