Re: 2025 Fixture

Would love to see the math on how a couple of 80 minute plane rides over 5 weeks is going to derail our whole season 8-) Not so much the plane ride that is the issue it’s the nature of the crowd. It is immense on Adelaide away days, never see more one sided crowds which definitely impacts performan...

Re: Change in age demographic

Aren't we putting Crouch on the rookie list? Anyway, I would like to think that we would definitely be going to the draft (esp for our first two picks) right up until the Tasmania team comes in. This year I sincerely we hope we pick two pure midfielders. Because key position defenders you can get a...

Re: 2025 Fixture

No doubt that the fixture is compromised with all these annual match ups, and it is frankly ridiculous that we play Collingwood in an away game at Docklands. It might have been nice to play North Melbourne twice, but then again, one of those times would be in Hobart and we don't always do so well in...

Re: 2025 Fixture

Our gather round game is to be treated as a home game against GWS. We are the first named team, but nobody is the home team (a bit ridiculous when you consider that our return game against the Tigers this year was actually their home game, but they had to play it at our home ground). I think we'll ...

It's like back to the future - in this case 1987.
Instead of Marcou, McConville, Wow Jones, Kourkemelis, Kenny Sheldon and Ricky Nixon, now it's Stocker, Dow, Kid Caminiti and Carroll. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Jack Silvagni came across too you know.

Re: 2025 Fixture

My wish list: Our newly annual MCG Home Game fixture should feature us against Carlton this year. They'll turn up and we match up well against them. Win-win. I would prefer us to play North Melbourne twice at Docklands instead of traveling to Perth or Adelaide to play the Eagles or the Crows. I woul...

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

Unfortunately, as someone old enough to have St. Kilda play at the Junction, albeit as a 'visitor' against Fitzroy, the Junction will never see football at the top level played there again. I remember even Fitzroy couldn't make it work financially for them, despite them making the top 5 five times ...

Re: Robbo: No-man’s land Saints can’t afford to fluff picks 7 and 8 again

It's fair to say that recruitment staff at St Kilda made some monumentaly poor decisions in drafts in the past (taking David Armitage at 9 ahead of Jack Riewoldt 13 in 2006) was my all-time howler. But Robbo failed to acknowledge that in recent years they picked some really good ones, most recently...

Re: Robbo: No-man’s land Saints can’t afford to fluff picks 7 and 8 again

Two pure midfielders. No messing around.
No flankers, no project ruckmen, no forwards who can 'play in the middle'.
The Carlton game in the last round said it all for me - 15 of their best 23 out, but because their midfield was intact, they stayed with us until the last 20 seconds.

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

Say what you like. No one is going to change my mind. I went to see the saints nearly every second week for decades growing up. The place was a smelly slum . To add insult to injuries the dump was in the total control of the Cricket club. I never saw us play there as the home side, but I saw us pla...

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

I think Moorabbin Oval is our future tbh. When we do win a Grand Final, sure, do our celebrating at the Junction Oval as a nod to our historical links to the area, and maybe a Captains' Run in a pre season as part of the St. Kilda Festival, but apart from those things, I think a focus on our real gr...

I hope this isn't a slippery slope, although it would be incorrect to say that this is our first rebranding.
We were called the Southern saints in the 80s and that was on our shield too at that time.

Re: New Logo Incoming

Furthermore, the dot below the T has always annoyed me, it’s incorrect, there’s no dot in St Kilda. I suppose you know that 'st' isn't a word. The correct spelling is St Kilda. No dot. Just like St John Ambulance or St Vincent’s Hospital. It is an abbreviation that doesn’t always use a dot. Correct...

I reckon we should go back to being called The Panthers, hasn't done Penrith any harm!
And by the way, there is no Saint Kilda, it is St. Kilda - like Roskilde.

Re: Cutting too deep

You have to have experience around your young players. Membrey and Jones were both very good in the back half of the season IMHFO.
I am glad we kept Jones, and wish we were keeping Tim Membrey. Jet!
In the 70s players like Phil Stevens worked with players coming through in the magoos to help them out.

Don't like it - he kicked five goals in a game this year. Tim is a very handy player and will be next year. We look better up forward when he is marking the ball 60 metres out and delivering the ball inside the forward 50. Watch some of his passes against Geelong or his five goal effort against the ...

Re: 9 reasons why St Kilda fans should be positive heading into 2025

We must select two pure midfielders. We haven't got this right for a long time. It has been mentioned enough during the season proper by our coach which clearly tells us that the cub are well and truly aware of this. Even though we won the game, the final round against Carlton highlighted where our ...

With the two top ten draft pick midfielders we pick up this year, Max will have better kicks supplying him than he has done over the past four seasons.
