Re: Sharman and Ross

not a Seb Ross fan but he’s been far better this year, decent disposal and decision making. provided good run too West Coast game was the Seb I can’t stand, his disposal was awful. made little effort to hit team mates, often using hack kicks forward which gave our team no advantage. Needs to use his...

Re: Training - Friday February 12

Quick question as an interstate fan who doesnt get over to Melbourne much, but will be in Melbourne for the week leading up to the Round 1 game. Do the Saints have regular training days/time every week? And if so, are any fans able to attend? Where do they train etc? I would love to come watch a tr...

Re: training times / location?

Hope you went yeah I got along, thanks must have got there a bit late (~10.10) as they wrapped up about 15min after I got there, unfortunately. just caught a bit of running work, and the new recruits had finished, so not much to report sadly. New fitness guy running the show, main highlight was a t...

Re: training times / location?

thanks kosi, yeah I heard Jack say that, bit of a clue :)
I think they are on the little oval next to main oval but sometimes at Sandy

thanks also BS, yeah saw some footage last night, hard to train on that, although it wouldn't stop Queenstown footballers (though they would die in the heat).

Re: Welcome Oscar Adams

Mostly Benning when forward, and he got a break on Adams on most leads. Im guessing with his basketball background the club believe he has untapped potential, particularly with his physical attributes. thanks I watched the first qtr of the game from the 28th Aug a bit to like in it, very raw though...

Re: Welcome Jack Peris and Josiah Kyle

Rowan Marshall 2022 Sebastian Ross 2023 + 1 Jack Steele 2022 This doesn't make much sense to me. No concerns over Jack staying but I'd like to see us lock away Rowan pretty soon. Would much rather Seb was a year to year deal. He will be surpassed by one of the younger guys (Bytel, Byrnes, Nas, Owens...

Re: Welcome Oscar Adams

I just watched his last game of SA v WA where he was named in the best. He is very much a project player (reminded me of a young Tyrone Vickery). He got absolutely owned when rucking by the Freo NGA recruit Benning, Adams couldnt seem to judge his leap and getting his arms up at the same time. SA g...

Welcome Nasiah! great to have some more skill at the saints :D
hopefully he can work on his contested skills a bit and learn some techniques to handle close checking
can't imagine he'll be allowed to run around on his own at AFL level
really hope he ends up a great player for the saints

Well I got that one wrong, I apologise. It’s definitely not what she first detailed the club about. On a different note Higgins has dropped a couple and looks mighty fit thanks Tony good to hear re Higgins, he did look a bit chubby last year, esp when we first traded him in hopefully his fitness li...

Re: Pick 9/11 Prediction

I'm hoping it's not Sinn, don't like the idea of gambling on a HBF turning to a mid. I quite like Goater but reading a bit more his kicking is a bit suss and has played more in the backline than mid. still though, had some mid time and looks good for a tall mid/wing. quick, agile, very good by hand,...

Re: Draft What IF???

I haven't seen much of these young players, only highlights and write ups. Mac Andrew is interesting, could be a good fit but worry a little about strength, contested footy side of his game Wanganeen-Milera looks very classy but similar concerns re ability to win a contest. How would he go if he had...

Re: Pick swap In 55 out future 4th

I find it pretty frustrating that Collingwood (and Bulldogs this year and last) can bundle together a pile of steak knives picks to equal pick 1. Would a club ever trade their pick 1-10 for a handful of miscellaneous picks in the 30s-50s? Ah yeah nah. I like the father son rule but it's ridiculous a...

Saw big Max (maybe Ben...) running the Yarra trail the other day.
Looked good but he always does at training.
Hope he gets fitter and stronger this season, take his already impressive game up a level or two.

Gresh will be a significant upgrade, we really miss his spark in the middle and up forward. Left field idea, if we are happy with our present small/med defenders could Paton swing forward? If I remember correctly he kicked four in an intra club in his first year, maybe he has some forward skills? Ro...

Re: Don’t get beaten by what you know!!!

Noticed one passage when they moved it out of their back half, chippy chippy to the loose man moving into space with our players guarding grass in zone/space defence. We couldn't shut the movement down. By contrast when we moved out of defence in a structured way, they played man on man, shut down a...

A natural forward with instincts you cannot teach Even when the ball is kicked to the most disadvantageous position for him - he still made it work. Seems to have natural knack for using the best angles to attack the ball. A few contests in the game where he got to the ball first by attacking it on...

His kicking, apart from one out on on the full, was great, looked very balanced and confident. Great game, so good to watch, but they didn't defend well against him.
