Re: Captaincy thoughts?
I've read most comments since 2008, but rarely post (at that time you didn't need to 'join' to have access). This is an interesting topic and I would have thought, that in a ideal scenario, the club would being looking for a strategy that involves: 1. Similar to Rooey, we have a transition year wher...

Re: The two St kilda teams
I put together this Sandy team to review the competition for positions, and I’m interested in your opinion on the following questions: 1. Is this a much stronger side & will Sandy play finals? SANDY signings: https://www.sandringhamfc.com.au/latest-news 2. Which of the highlighted fringe players...

Re: Marshall over the moon
This made me think about ‘quotes’ from our players who may not be ‘Over the Moon' about our Trade Period. Logan Austin: “I’m rapt that we’ve pick up Howard who is a quality player who will be important to all tall backline structure moving forward. I will learn a lot from watching him from the stand...

Re: Jack Newnes
Lack of interest from other clubs, plus Carlton's level of confidence in discussions with Jack meant that they could take this approach. It also suggests that they wouldn't have been heart broken if the Hawks swooped in at the last second to throw a lifeline. Clubs have done this to each other befor...

Re: best 22 round 1
Based on Round 1 predictions, we could see 8 to 11 changes from the following team selected for Round 23, 2019. Over the last 40 odd years, does anyone remember a year with more round 1 changes? FF 13 Jack Lonie 28 Tim Membrey 21 Ben Long HF 16 Jack Newnes 27 Josh Bruce 10 Dan Hannebery C 15 Jack Bi...

Re: Late pick 18 year olds.
Thanks Gershy, I really appreciate & rate this type of homework, especially this time of year. :D I've always wondered why (across all teams) when 'panning for gold' from the draft, more rookies seem to become quality players compared to very late draft picks. Your stats help to support this. If...

Pace replacing Medium/Slow Bowlers
We’ve all heard a lot about the potential to inject more leg speed into our team. Whilst highly desirable, I’ve tried to look at which faster recruits are likely to get a game. Now during 2018 our list played a total of 481 games between them (and of course the total will change as a result of injur...

Re: What am I missing?
This is a question seeking opinion rather than a statement.
Given that their is ultimately some degree of luck (as well as skill) in selected an A grader in the first round.
Is there a significantly higher chance of picking at least one really good player if we use both 7 & 8 in the draft?

Re: Poll: Who is our third best player?
This question used to be easy. It was Harvey, Burke, Lowe & then Spider came along. Based on last year, the most important third player would be Members, Ross & then Hickey...but preseason form seems to have turned this on it's head which has created this post. I'm not disagreeing with the c...

Re: Best Trades from other Clubs
Looking at our trade history over the last 40 years, whilst we've pick up some good player I'd suggest that only the G-Train and maybe Aaron Hamill would be considered game changing champions with hopefully Hickey showing future potential. We spend a lot of energy searching for the Messiah (which we...

North Melbourne - Lazar Vidovic
Lazar would have been a shoe in, but played with Carlton, and was recruited from Castlemaine so no trade.
I like someone's suggestion of Luke Penny & I agree that he might just edge out Farren as the better pick up from the Dogs.

What a great story! We should make him our version of that old Swans bloke who's in the middle of the circle for the song after a win. People like this should be celebrated as the real No.1 ticket holder.

Re: Sub rule gone, capped interchange for 2016
I'm probably wrong but I'm just wondering if there could be an unintended consequence. What if coaches think that they can get an advantage if they can field a whole team of elite runners that can still flood (with less interchange rest). Imagine no ruckman, no natural footballers, just a team full ...
