Thanks for posting Sanctorum. I would have missed it. McGuane was once in the Saints coaching panel.
After having got over the shock of the Lyon return, this will be one of the most interesting years ahead for Saints supporters. Disappointing for Brett Ratten, but 2023 was looking to be a dead year .

Re: Training today 5/5/22
Thanks for posting. Good report. Very few of us attend training, so it's good to hear what has occurred.
I can't understand why King & Higgins are going backwards with their goal kicking, which should be a set routine - getting to be a real team concern now.

Nothing running for us at the moment - weather, injuries, covid, team selection, game tactics, team intensity.
Another loss will set us back badly.

Re: Gallagher on draft outcome. Sounds of the Saints
Yes, a great interview - worth watching how professional our recruiting is becoming. Gags is very impressive and a good communicator. I think that we are in good hands for a while - a huge leap on past recruiting performance. I wonder how our past recruiters were ever allowed in and especially how l...

Good summary Saynta.
As usual, time will tell. I have a lot more faith in the new recruiters than the previous losers.
A lot will be hanging on the Oscar Adams choice.

Re: Corey Enright
Great and recent credentials. He should be a big asset to the Saints.
Was he pushed by Geelong, or did the Saints chase him?
I assume that he lives in the Geelong area, so a very big family move, as he will no doubt need to move to the city.

Re: Captain Jack
Well done Jack.
We have ourselves a great long-term captain and a sole captain for next year.
Let's not expect him to carry the whole team on his shoulders in future years. In the pressure-cooker of AFL he should get lots of personal skills development and nurturing by the Club.

I understand that Dunstan is now a Free Agent, so very little trade compensation to us.
At 26 yrs, he has played well in the last half of this year. I wonder if it comes down to a list choice between he and Seb Ross?

Re: Assistant Coaches
Moving along, regarding a new High Performance Fitness guru, Andrew Russell from Carlton has been mentioned and he would be a very good choice. My thoughts go to a St Kilda guru - Sean Dempster. He has a great reputation in this fitness area. His record of being a Saints person, 200+ AFL games and p...

Re: Changes for Geelong game
I thought that we bought Frawley in for the Hawkins type match-up. Frawley has been playing at Sandy and I don't think that he is injured. This year is gone for us, so don't risk others. Rest Ryder for next year. Howard with a hammy will not be ready. Clark is damaged and should be rested now for ne...

Re: Players chatting after the game.
I can live with it. It's professional sport these days and players are able to respect the efforts of the opposition.
In-match, it's a different mentality entirely.

Re: Final quarters
The intensity of effort at each contest was not there in the last quarter. Bad kicking all day and mis-kicks in the last quarter, robbed us of a likely win.

Re: Lefties
I can't understand how players at this level (and pay), cannot kick both feet. Why aren't the players practicing this? What are the recruiters and indeed, the coaches saying/doing about these lack of skills - "nothing" it seems. I taught myself to kick both feet (at a reasonable level), qu...

The entire supporter base is calling for action and the run home to the end of the year will not allow anyone to hide. Let's see if our President has the balls to say something positive about what he intends to do.

Re: Junction Oval - Worth a thought? (Again)
As an iconic venue for the Saints, it's always worth raising for general discussion. It has a big, great surface. Downsides are now the lack of parking and OHS factors regarding stand safety, toilets, food and change rooms. These may be too costly to fix for the revenue generated in just one game.

Nick has everything to make a great coach, especially with a few years away, looking in on the game.
Hi up-front nature and absolute honesty would have interesting repercussions.

Re: Matthew Lloyd & M King Kicking
I heard Lloyd comment on a television footy show recently. He seemed to identify precisely what the problem was - along the lines, that King leans back, which throws his foot direction out. Also, he lets the ball release, too high (or something similar). Lloydy sounded like someone with a definitive...
