Vale Alan Stretton

Major-General Alan Stretton was well known for being in charge of the clean-up in Darwin after Cyclone Tracey, but he played for St Kilda in the late 40s, and remained a passionate Sainter. He lived in Bateman's Bay NSW, and always travelled to Canberra for matches at Manuka and any Saints supporter...

Brian Gleeson

Can anyone tell me if this champion from the late 50s is still living?? I saw a notice in The Canberra Times that a Brian Gleeson, aged 84, passed away on New Years Eve, and the service was to be at Mordialloc. Don't know if it is the same person.

You can't tell me that Paul Roos didn't know all about it either, the way he has been dodging questions on the couch for the last few weeks! You can bet he was urging Lyon on all the way!!

A belated but very sincere thank you to all who posted wonderful messages following the passing of my father, (Duggie on this forum) one month ago today. Our family was blown away by the support to us. Dad would have been amused and very embarrassed to know that he had been mentioned in the same sen...

Listen to the Cats singing their song, and I think you'll agree our boys are streets ahead with their musicianship, not to mention enthusiasm!!!!!!

I was so privileged to see him play. Yes Maxstar, he was heaps better than the footage shows - I remember seeing him almost buried with opposing players around him everywhere, and he would still come out with the ball. Not just a one-off - he would just do that all the time, game after game. Slipper...

I don't agree with you taz. It's all bad publicity, and we're just sick of it. Why do we all bother to deny ourselves in order to worship the ground these guys walk on? I have just bought another two memberships I couldn't afford for family members, and what for!!!!! After nearly 60 years of followi...

Doubly sad when you consider that those four young idiotic players in the news would probably not even recognise the Doc if they saw him in the street, let alone possess half of his skill!!!!!

Our thoughts are with you Darrel and Margaret and your family. We pray you will pull through.

Did all the Moorabbin auction items go?

I have spent months trying to find out which reserved seat my grandfather had for years at Moorabbin. By the time I found out, the auction was finished. All I have finally found out it was Row 1, Seat 124, and wonder whether anyone has bought a seat back with that on it. Have tried to find out from ...

Qld Floods - Sainters right into it!

Imagine my excitement when I saw two blokes decked out in Saints gear this morning, working on the clean-up in East Brisbane!!!!

Good to hear from you hungry. I had similar problems getting onto the forum too, so I understand your frustration. I love all those old players too, but I think the thrill of all time for me was watching Baldock weave in and out amongst packs of players as only he could. I was just a kid. It was alw...

Nope, I think he has been VERY average for a couple of years now. I remember the first time I saw him play, on the day of the '97 GF at the G, but I can't remember which team he was playing for.

One of my favourite players of all time, and a lovely bloke. Wish we could get him back at St Kilda in some capacity.
