Re: Who is left on the board?

With all the meltdowns from saints fans I just want to say this. Tauru and TnT (Travaglia) are great picks. Travaglia looks to me like a quicker Will Day. As if Will Day and Trent Rivers had a blonde baby and that is him. He will be a midfielder. Will add something different there. Tauru is a marqu...

Re: Tuohy on Bolton.

Are they impressed with Chris Fagan? He played 260 games in the same ‘local league’ As a coach definitely. But YOU were lauding Bolton the player saying he was a great footballer. The one thing that was/is unique about Fagan is that he has coached a flag but hasn’t played at the level. No one ackno...

Re: Women's AFL

I've been saying from the get-go we should never have appointed Dal Santo. He's not a coach. He doesn't have a clue. Classic jobs for the boys. The reason our women's team is shithouse is that the club gave them to him as a toy for him to play with. In all honesty, how dare they. If they're determi...

Re: Tuohy on Bolton.

You know the big difference BM, between Bolton and The Doc and all those other famous Tassie names you mentioned? Doc and co played VFL or AFL whereas Bolton played a level below them. So that makes Bolton an inferior player to the players he is coaching. No point pumping up TFL. Sure its produced s...

Re: Tuohy on Bolton.

Bolton may be a d**khead But he was a very good footballer At age 19, Bolton played in the 1998 TFL Grand Final. He won the Darrel Baldock Medal for the best player on the ground that day. Bolton would then play 24 games for the Tasmanian Devils in the 2001 and 2002 Victorian Football League season...

Remember that was 8 years ago. Hopefully he’s evolved a bit from then. Importantly toohey reckons he’s a wonderful technical coach. As an assistant not sure a whole lot of this stuff will be relevant. He wouldn’t have survived otherwise

His injury history is nothing like what Hannebery had. He’s also considered a model citizen, a great influence on our young mids. Not sure everything about Hanners screamed ‘leader’

Re: Macrae article in Herald Sun

I'm bloody excited by the pick up. Of course his numbers were down this year. He was injured at the start and Bevo either played him out of position (fwd) or gave him limited minutes or had him as sub. Bevo has different priorities which is fair enough but we need him. A bloke with a big body who kn...

Re: Robbo: No-man’s land Saints can’t afford to fluff picks 7 and 8 again

It's fair to say that recruitment staff at St Kilda made some monumentaly poor decisions in drafts in the past (taking David Armitage at 9 ahead of Jack Riewoldt 13 in 2006) was my all-time howler. But Robbo failed to acknowledge that in recent years they picked some really good ones, most recently...

Re: Robbo: No-man’s land Saints can’t afford to fluff picks 7 and 8 again

Just out of curiosity, which club can afford to stuff up two top 10 picks in a draft? Maybe if you already have father/sons, academy stars lined up but that's the most ridiculous article I've read from Robbo for awhile. It's like saying, 'if the swans make a GF in the near future, they'd want to be ...

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

Unfortunately, as someone old enough to have St. Kilda play at the Junction, albeit as a 'visitor' against Fitzroy, the Junction will never see football at the top level played there again. I remember even Fitzroy couldn't make it work financially for them, despite them making the top 5 five times ...

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

Say what you like. No one is going to change my mind. I went to see the saints nearly every second week for decades growing up. The place was a smelly slum . To add insult to injuries the dump was in the total control of the Cricket club. As a former Fitzroy supporter who grew up watching footy at ...

Lived in Hobart for work in my early 20’s and travelled extensively over the island. It is a beautiful place, plenty to see and experience in the outdoors etc.Outgrew the place after about 18 months and the thing that got me the most, in the end, was the small mindedness of the people and how insul...

At least 2 outlets are saying we're looking at Ethan Phillips. Should be more than 2 outlets as he has had a medical. So they should all say that we are "looking" as him. Looking is not the same as taking though. He would be solid depth. Good intercept mark, in the slow side and offensive...

In answer to your question BM, no I have never lived in Hobart. I did go on a footy trip there 30 years ago and had a great time 😅 I went to Launceston this year to watch the Saints v Hawks. Stayed in the midlands after the game…… My mum lived in Hobart for 2 years. Hated it. Most people commenting ...

Players would move to Timbuktu to get on an AFL list That remains to be seen. Which I think the new Tasmanian franchise is about to find out. I know you’re from Tassie and you’re a proud Tasmanian but I can’t see many 18 year-old kids being thrilled about being drafted to go to Hobart. Let alone es...

No way I want Tomlinson. He’s been in system long enough and shown he’s not good enough. Phillips worth a go I reckon. My Hawks friends were stunned when Frost went down in elimination final that Phillips didn’t come in

Just delisted from Hawks. My hawk obsessed mate tells me he’s a good size (198cm) moves well and should be AFL ready. Reckons he’s above VFL standard. Is a backman I see hawks delisted him today. Wonder if we’ll give him a go? Sounds like he might be worth a try. Interested in the thoughts of those ...

Lots of keyboard warriors rushing to the defence of Schrodinger's private function to fight 'wokeism gone too far' or whatever, but no-one brave enough to say how far might actually be far enough for sanctions. Once we find out details it will be too late. Don't be one of those guys that has to com...

I’m very happy with our player management and have far more confidence than when Trout and Pelchen were running things. A couple more gun kids is worth everything. A valuable foot soldier in Macrae will also help. Just need a back up for Romo

Look if he maintains his form from last 6 rounds then by all means let him go around again. Very handy. But if he reverts to bad habits, ie holding on to the pull too long, making poor decisions with ball in hand, then it becomes irrelevant. As long as he’s on low.waged then the damage control is mi...

How much of a power position do North have? Get something for him now or lose him as a free agent in 12 months? Yes that's a great idea. However why would he come to the Saints? Take your Saints hat off for a sec. We're a middling club with a small supporter base with a poor history of success. Pla...

Now that the dust has settled, do we even care that Battle has left?

I was filthy with him originally, for all sorts of reasons. Namely that we had appeared to nurture him from a young age, brought him into our club, were patient with him whilst he struggled to find his feet and his natural position. He plays two good seasons and cashed his chips in at the first avai...

Re: Compo - Pick 9

IMO it’s a hard one. He looked decent in 2020 and then was tearing it up in the preseason… ripping shape and then had 2 season ending injuries back to back. Absolutely destroyed the kid. I think this was what… his first largely injury free year in 4 years or something. Wayyyy off the pace. Will be ...
