Re: Hastie

Slightly surprised to see him ahead of Garcia, who is a genuine mid as opposed to a HBF. Not sure he adds to the rotations given we already have Stocker on the bench. But always exciting to see some new talent. He is bound to start as a Sub. Apparently played on the wing in the VFL on the weekend (...

Re: Who are the A-graders in cashed-up St Kilda's sights?

Crouch, who has just entered the last season of a four-year deal worth $700,000 per season, triggered a fifth year of a contract when he played his first game in round two against Geelong. There you go That's why he put his hand up to play in round 1 Let's hope he can regain some of his best form f...

Re: Who are the A-graders in cashed-up St Kilda's sights?

Re Tassie, it’s apparently not going to be the same as it was for GWS and Gold Coast, where they monopolised the the top end of the draft. It’s been reported that they’re going to have to trade their high picks for established talent, or lose the picks. So clubs will have a great opportunity to get ...

Re: Phillipou

I find the lack of news about contract signing a tad concerning…we are showing faith….playing him…coach loves him …I don’t get the hold up I dare say the hold up is that he’s getting an enormous offer or two from across the border. You’d think Adelaide in particular would offer him the world. Unfor...

Re: Match Ups v Essendon

Collingwood were too tall for us the other night as well. 15 contested marks to our 8. That was the one part of the game that they clearly had over us.

This week we’ll presumably only have two blokes over 195cm in the team. 196cm Caminiti, and 201cm Roma.

Re: Arie Schoenmaker to debut?

Hope Max gets off with a fine. As far as Arie goes, one good game in the twos doesn't guarantee you much, surely he needs to string a few good games together before considered for senior selection. Unfortunately we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. We don’t have the luxury of giving these young...

Well hopefully he’ll actually get it right this time. And it gives us the chance to have a look at others in there in the meantime, like Windy, Jones, then hopefully Dow and Clark.

Eligible for free agency this year.

Re: Round 1 side

Wow, Collard is playing! Didn’t see that coming. Must be pretty desperate for more forward pressure.

Didn’t even play the whole game against Norf so will presumably be sub for this one. Guessing this means Jones won’t be playing.

Sincs not playing either.

Re: Round 1 side

Wilson officially set to make his debut. And Windy, Battle, Jones and Pou have all been declared available, which is great news. Windy can potentially replace Webster and we’ll have ample midfield options, in Steele, Crouch, Seb, Jones, Pou, Windy and Owens. Sincs trained fully and is also sounding ...

Re: Injury update

Someone else posted this: Hayes, Butler, Jones (with helmet), Windy and Crouch all out there in full training. Sinclair and VanEs did early bit with main group then moved to rehab. Dow did some rehab. Many times last year the club overestimated the return dates of those who were injured and it looks...

Re: Injury update

According to SaintMike65 on BF: Pou didn’t train today…just worked on the bike! Butler, Sinclair, Windhager, Jones & Hayes trained That’s an extremely good sign that Butts, Sincs, Windy and Hayes trained. While our injury list is longer than we’d like and a lot longer than say Geelong’s (just Gu...

Re: Round 1 side

Sounds like Geelong have a number of “smalls” up forward, so we could really really really do with Windy getting up for this one, so that he can play on one of them. Otherwise we may have to swing Hill back there (not ideal, as him, Wangmil and Bonner don’t have too many defensive bones between them...

Re: The list

The list is still vulnerable, still can’t cover injuries to certain players, depth still needs development but could get there in 2 to 3 years. Think we will struggle to cover this season I could be wrong here, but didn’t we play finals last year with a considerably worse injury list, and with prob...

Re: Injury update

Well with the injuries we have before a ball has been bounced and our early draw, exploration year - the sequel is about to start. Some players are going to need to stand up. Or else. It might actually work out well having our injuries now, while our draw is hard, because it might mean that we’ll h...

Re: Injury update

Clark has reportedly pinged a calf. In better news, Jones has returned to full training after exiting concussion protocols. They reckon Windy and Sincs are touch-and-go for R1 it seems. Listing them both as 2-3 weeks. So our midfield could potentially be without Clark, Sincs, Windy and Dow for R1. T...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

Pou was the most disappointing player for me, he was given an opportunity in the midfield and he struggled to have an impact. He’ll need to do a hell of a lot more against the Roos on Sunday, if he wants to play in round 1. Not that I disagree - but .... How many days has he been 19? Hands like a t...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

Yeah that’s an interesting last comment. I strongly suspect that had Pou not been from SA that he would have been dropped late in the season last year, as I just didn’t think his output warranted remaining in the team, but I don’t think they wanted to give him the slightest reason to consider going ...

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

Bucks was seriously anti Saints last year. Egg on face. Plus he would be smarting from Mcrea winning a premiership when he didn't. So he may be losing self confidence. Now he is guessing we will Improve. As Joey said on Saints TV, they all guess - unbiasedly. And most teams Improve you just have to...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

We have the firepower up forward, but we need that midfield to step up a bit and get the ball to the forwards cleanly- one the reasons we weren't kicking big enough scores last season. Couldn't see evidence in the praccy match of much difference to last season, as Essendon got it out a bit too easy...

The equally wise Nathan Buckley is also all aboard the Saints train.
