Sure Iceman. Aside from a couple of flogs, as soon as the trade was announced, the reaction to it was utter delight. Most on here don't realise just how much Lovett has tantalised and teased us over the years and I think people as a rule were getting frustrated by it. Hence to get a first round pick...

From an Essendon point of view...I would suggest you need to look at places other than the Herald-Sun chat page or a few SEN callers. The majority of Essendon fans, including myself, don't wish anything bad on Lovett..nor are we disappointed that he's gone for a first round pick. Most Dons fans tho...

Comiserations for yesterday.

Was really impressed with the effort the side put in for 4 quarters and a little bit better luck would have seen the cup head to Moorabbin.

Saturday

Must say I wish your side all the very best on Saturday. I don't think i could stand Geelong winning again. You've been brilliant all year (sans a couple of slip-ups) and deserve this.

I hope you play Maxie...and if that means Eddy has to come out, then so be it.

All in all - GO SAINTS.

Umps were atrocious. McPhee angle, just wandered out wherever he wanted, was surprised he didn't end up in the goal square. Players within 5 metres for our shots eg Kosi. Monfries - 6 free kicks - seriously! We didn't have one free against us for tackles against the Dorks on a day we layed the most...

Can't see the point really of the OP. We won at all costs. And as for the outs well, the ins are arguably as good as the players to come out. Cases in point: Lloyd Winderlich are set to return from injury. Fletcher will play - only needs to pass a fitness test. Zaharakis, Hooker, Hocking, Skipworth ...

What on earth is all the fuss about? They are professional musicians with their own CD available, who play the theme song of whoever happens to be the home team on the day. They have never..ever..played Essendon's. They say it is because Essendon fans don't give them money. Well it's pretty easy. P...

I think Essendon got it right match-up wise down there.

Having Neagle start there and then seeing Ryder/Bellchambers rotate from the ruck down there stretched your backline and made Dawson's game even harder than it was.

Umpiring was poor both ways. Can someone here explain to me how Lonergan, playing in front of Blake, didn't get a free kick with Blake's arm on his head...and Blake got the free kick for holding? At the game, there is no conclusive evidence the Fletcher goal was touched...it was just a case of once ...

Holding the ball etc

Far from me to gloat, but, the umpires in the game had a shocker. The holding the ball decisions for the most part were there...for the dons, I'd like to praise young "Irish" in Quinn for his efforts in that department. The stats might say we got more free kicks than you might have, but, f...

Can't believe it took that long to mention Jim and Edna's boys. They had a cousin, Mick, who also played.

shame we didn't see enough of the most talented of them in Neale.

Re: Jumper clash and constitution

Just on the jumper clash..I must admit I found it unusual for both team to wear their clash strips yesterday. St. Kilda's is a good example of how it should be done right. I cannot understand why we at Essendon wore black shorts though. I think that jumper is better suited with the old red shorts.....

Agreed. Also the softness regarding clash jumpers. Definition: Clash Jumper ...An alternative jumper that eliminates a clash of colours against the traditional jumpers of opponents. What happened yesterday was St Kilda wearing their clash jumper because Essendon's clash jumper still clashed with ou...

Congratulations

Well done Saints on a great game.

Hang me for saying this, but, that game is what the Saints needed...tough hard and thrilling. Will set you up for the flag - confidence is a big thing and you stood up when challenged.

Thanks again. Catch you all in August for the return match.

Essendon game for an Essendon viewpoint

Hi, just thought I'd visit here and give the view from the other side. Well done on your season so far. Speaking from the Essendon POV, it'll be an interesting test for us as well. Our biggest for the year so far. I've taken a bit of time and thought about where you have the advantage over us and wh...
