I don't think that we were "fortunate" per se. In the end, we took what was on offer. It was a deliberate decision. It wasn't like... well what the heck, MG has been delisted so let's take a u punt. It was a deliberate decision based on the coach's philoosophy on the role of ruckmen. That ...

It is foolish to judge him purely on goal kicking. Take a closer look at what he does to set things up.

Re: The Fox Report - Round 3

How do you know? You stated you have not been to the game, nor watched any tape of it in your post of this morning!! Are you assuming he made 10 errors and gave away 3 free kicks?? There's this little thing called the Internet. Oh well then - it must be absolute right then!! What were the errors he...

I will note that ex coaches such as Alves and Watson have openly admitted where they went wrong, whereas G&T does not appear to have the same belief. As far as I recall, Alves has only ever admitted that he got the "politics" wrong. I don't think I have ever heard him say something al...

Re: The Fox Report - Round 3

The bottom line is that whatever the plan was, it appears to be falling into place. Or that the plan has changed. Perhaps. I think Ross himself has been open about it. He made the comment after the game that the players and coaches have grown as a group. He admits he got things wrong. Does it matte...

damn I missed FC - anything of interest re us??? GT was very complimentary towards us and gave ross the thumbs up. I must have been watching a different program. You must have then. Gave RL 5 out of 10 for his first year. Anyone disagree with that. Gave him 7 out of 10 for last year. Seems about ri...

As far as the rucks go, he has to admit he was wrong because they are performing. Had they not, I reckon he would have stuck by his original views. like the rest of us on here imo he's a passionate sainter and will never be critical of something that is bringing us/will bring us success. he's smart...

ook, in fairness to the guy, he's now a media performer; and has to say the type of things he despised about the media when he was coach. For me, he should now be judged in the exact same way that all other journo's are judged. An interesting point is that Eade said that everyone went quiet whenever...

Re: The Fox Report - Round 3

Only the fools thought we'd have instant success under a new coach. It takes time. Years. Funny, I thought GT said last night that Leigh Matthews would have. Fool? Touche. There's a combination of a few things happening here... 1- Only a handful of senior players performed at their best over the fi...

I don't mind him commenting on the status quo, but it would be nice to hear him admit that he screwed up in certain areas. he sort of has. he praised the king/gardiner ruck duo and said it's not something he would have persevered with. all coaches have blind spots and one of gt's was over the impor...

Given your statement that it would take time, which I agree with, and it has taken time. I find it odd that you criticize Ross in other posts, yet are you open to the possibility that he built the current game plan / style up starting with teaching the players defence? My view is that what you're se...

It was funny watching him tonite. On the one hand, he rates Eade as one of the best tacticians in football... yet when Eade was available, Gin and Tonic didn't step down and attempt to get Eade to the Saints. Funny also was hos grading of Ross... given how poorly he performed in his first 2 years.....

So given that he obviously thought he was 'the best coach for the job' at that time, what was the point of his magnanamous offer to step aside if there was a 'better copach for the job'? You'd have to ask him that. Gentlemen, I do recall him stating that he would happily step asidde if someone bett...

MAybe with the death of a close mate, Begley realized that life is too short and wanted to be near his family more?

Ross has done a great job to reuild the team as he wants it. This combined with the moves off field, makes me more excited than 2004.

in 2004 we were too young. Now with recruits that are ready... we are ready.
