Re: Rising star nominations?
Steven's nomination was in his fourth year. Didn't get one for his three goal performance against the reigning premiers in 2010.
Dal Santo didn't get one in 2002 either. Had 25 disposals in Round 5 v Sydney, but missed out to a bloke named Nick Riewoldt.

That's me.
My point about the expansion teams was a bit of a throwaway one, but with two more teams the talent is spread thinner and a meteoric rise up the ladder through the draft is tougher.

Re: The Diff between us & Melb.
I haven't posted on here in a while. Are you f***ing serious? Yesterday was a very graphic display of the difference between the two sides. Melbourne would have got belted by 25 goals yesterday. We lost the last three quarters by 13 points still being dominated in the middle, in possession, with no ...

Re: James Frawley trade update
If it is a deal like Richmond and Miller, Green would be rookied. St Kilda has already upgraded Clinton Jones - the bloke who finished 2nd in the B&F tagging (while a whole bunch of Saints fans didn't notice him). I think we're pretty right for young inside mids (Armo, Shuffles, Ross) so I'd be ...

Re: Rooey still injured
You get fined for playing a player who is not named in the 25. We got in trouble last year for playing Kosi v West Coast when he wasn't originally in the 25. Leaving a player out who is in the 25, and replacing them with an annouced emergency, is always simple enough and is permitted. This is why I ...

We didn't really have many options towards the end of last year with nearly all our younger players injured.

Re: 2008 AFL Draft
Through 2001-2004 we picked up some real productivity late in drafts (Montagna, Fisher, Gwilt). It was really from 2005-2007 that we dropped the ball, either trading away picks or picking poorly. However, the 1st round pick for Fergus Watts may have been different if he had not have broken his leg (...

Re: CONTRACTS
Fremantle may have the money, but all my mail is that Goddard does not want to play under Ross Lyon again. Will GWS go after anybody? Or are they sufficiently happy with their early development that they'll stick with what they have and keep the money to try and keep as many of the kids together as ...

Re: SAINTS have some tough decisions at the end of the year!
The developments on field also make it difficult to snare a quality ruckman when you already have one. McEvoy is a ruckman mainly, and you can only play one of these guys in the side at any one time. Other players who can ruck have to be able to play other positions, like Kosi and Stanley forward, a...

Re: CONTRACTS
At the moment I would suggest the players who are in danger of being delisted at the end of the year would be Jason Gram, Raphael Clarke, Jason Blake, Sam Crocker, Dean Polo, Beau Wilkes & Brett Peake. That's only seven players. I would suggest five will go (Clarke, Blake, Crocker, Polo & Pe...

Re: SAINTS have some tough decisions at the end of the year!
Cripps does not fill a position of need at West Coast.
Key position payers are ranked more highly than midfielders. They also take longer to develop.
Not everyone wants to "go home". See Ray, Farren.

Re: Facts on 6 day break bias for 2012
The 5 1/2 day break after the Carlton game is a fact of playing on the Monday night. But it should be followed by a game in Melbourne, then a seven day break. Carlton's is ridiculous - why a Thursday night game in June in Perth? You play Friday nights, you'll get six day breaks. We play three Friday...

Re: SAINTS have some tough decisions at the end of the year!
General advice:
Whenever suggesting trades, think about the other club, and whether they would ever entertain the possibility of making that trade.
I would suggest the Cripps for Mitch Brown would not qualify.

Re: Impressed with WATTERS comments!
I love it when "never" is used to describe an 18 year old. We were a victim of previous planning and circumstance. I think we'll get amongst it and address those needs soon enough. The right players weren't available this season, although McCauley, Stephenson and Pattison were available. K...

But having some help down in the forward line made a huge difference. Everyone remember that his least productive years were 2006-2007 - the years after Guerra but before Schneider.
