Re: DeGo Or No...

He'd be our best forward instantly, on current standing, and we could move any number of surplus forwards to fit him in...but I'd be very surprised if we could afford him. Back loading his contract would also back us into a corner, given he'd be looking for a 5+ year deal.

Re: Mongrel Punt's preview for the Saints

thanks for sharing a very good review. My main concern for 2020 is where are the goals going to come from?? I was hoping for some commentary on Josh Battle returning to the forward line now with our excess of key defenders, with the return of many from injury, including Carlisle & Clavarino. Jo...

Not forgetting of course, he's an ex-AFL player, and did quite well as a running back at Collingwood. With an AFL pre-season under his belt he'll be more than useful as backup, I'm hoping even a regular.

Re: Nathan Brown to sign on for 2020

Marshall is the wild card. If he can replicate as a forward what he did in the ruck, then we’ll soon forget about Bruce. I can see Battle taking the vacant spot in the F50, he's strong, competitive, fearless and reads the play beautifully...with Robbo and Webster available down back, I'm sure the c...

I wonder why we persisted with White and Young for so long. Only conclusion is that no better options were available. They cannot have imagined that they would suddenly turn into Leigh Mathews. I don't think we persisted with Young at all...was it 3 games in the end? Then cut before his contract is...

Re: Why trade away so many picks?

You can compare the last two seasons to the early 2000s when we picked up Fraser Gehrig (West Coast), Luke Penny (Bulldogs), Brett Voss (Brisbane), Brent Guerra (Port Adelaide), Jason Gram (from Brisbane), Sam Fisher (mature age South Australian). We gave up a few second rounders for those players ...

Re: Why trade away so many picks?

We've been playing the long game since 2011, it just hasn't worked. At some stage the club needed to boost onfield leadership, introduce some 'mentors', generate a culture of success and stimulate memberships and sponsors with some wins...it won't happen by bottoming out and heading to the draft eac...

Deal done. Great value pick-up by North. Love money-ball trades and North have spent nothing to get him. Well...I did say Max was more a chance to head north than Ben south...AFL's artificial strengthening of the Suns takes its first casualty, our 2020 recruiting.

Re: We Could Emerge The Winner In Trade 2019

If we do not actually land Hill this trade period will not end up being what we hoped. Of all the players who want to come to us he is the one we most need and who will make the most difference to us. We should certainly not pay vast offers for him but without him acquisitions are more the support ...

Re: Adelaide interviews Harvey for coach

Hope Robert Harvey gets the job and proves to be a super coach. St Kilda does not deserve to ever have Robert Harvey as coach, we had a chance and chose Ratten, earlier we chose Richardson ahead of Banger and before that Scott Waters. Such an insult to a club legend, I hope he rubs it in our face. ...

Re: What’s the latest on Jack Steven?

Pick 33 isnt enough. Stop bying into the agenda that Geelong and the f****** media are creating. Jack Steven is worth a better pick than 33 any day of the week. Yes he is worth more than 33. However he’s 29 years old, overweight, unfit with mental health issues. There is no guarantee next year he w...

Lol...Peter Bell buys a 5 year old BMW for $50k, puts 60,000kms on it and lists it on Carsales for $150k. What a goose...I bet the Saints haven't laughed that hard for 2 and a half minutes for a long time.

Sounds like the deal to me...he is contracted, if he wants to continue to play and Geelong would like him there, why would we need to compromise? In any case, it has a long way to play out, would be surprised if it wasn't the last trade done.

Re: We Could Emerge The Winner In Trade 2019

Certainly seems like a good get, there were big wraps on him for most of the season...but with 3 years still to play out on his contract Port would be in their rights to play a bit of hardball. Hill/Jones should be priorities, and our key defensive positions at least solidly covered for now, I wond...

Thank God Buckenara isn't anywhere near our list manager.
