Definately the Hawthorn debacle in 1999 under Tim Watson was the most embarrasing defeat in recent memory. Yes we have copped bigger defeat's but from the position we were in, from memory we were 63 points up against an average team 7 minutes into the second quarter. To then go on and lose the game ...

After all the crap he copped in the past 2 seasons from some of the internet heroes who came on here and wanted him sacked. There was a lot of people who didn't have faith that we could turn things around with him in charge. I think it would be quite ironic to see him have a groundswell of support.

Ross Lyon T-Shirts

I'm one of those regular reader's who doesn't post quite often generally through lack of time. I remember a couple of months ago someone suggested we get some t-shirts printed up with Ross Lyon's mug on it. At the time I thought that might be going a bit too far but maybe if someone is good with a p...

Very good post. Massive night for the St.Kilda footy club on the 28th. We really do need to make a statement early in the season for varying reasons. Most importantly is membership, if we are slow out of the block's we are going to find it very difficult to post even 30,000 especially with no blockb...

Got the snakes and ladders around the wrong way, too tired from work! Should read. Ladders: Goddard, Steven Snakes: Milne Also believe Schneider could be one of either. Big season for him, could be quite useful as I don't believe his body was quite right at any particular stage last season. Also pro...

Snakes: I believe Brendon Goddard will go to the next level this season and sit amongst the elite. One of the few players in saints colours who kicks with any decency. Also love the passion he plays with! Jack Steven: Can't wait to watch this kid go, can seriously play. Tough footballer who can kick...

I believe part of the reason we are so roo dependant lies within the midfield. Apart from Gram and Goddard, none of our midfields kick accurately from outside 50. Montagna is a bit hit and miss. If you go through the rest of our midfield none of them have any depth in their kicks. Ball, Lenny, Dal, ...

Was anyone at this game where we beat Melbourne at the G in 89', Winmar kicked 9 and Harvey had 30 touches. Before my time but must've been very exciting considering Melbourne made the finals that year and we were pretty shite. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1989/111519890826.html I was at...

I believe Birss is vastly underated. Our only midfielder who consistenly has been kicking goals of late. He is a pretty good kick for goal. Whilst he lacks leg speed, he makes up for that with his endeavour and grunt work that he provides. He tagged Heath Shaw a couple of weeks ago and kept him well...

Speaking to John Beveridge at Casey a couple of weeks ago, Jack is very unlikely to play any football this year due to school coming before footy. He is finishing off year 12 much like Luke Ball did in 2002. He has only been completing about 50% of the training sessions. Jack is the most exciting pl...

Im also surprised Fizz is there. From what I saw against Northern Bullants, apart from one good pass Fizz did stuff all. Didnt see the Collingwood game though so he may have gathered 2 hard ball gets instead of 1 and perhaps laid a decent tackle. I believe the team walks smaller as opposed to walks ...

I like the idea of a "Plugger Party", so many great memories. I'll never forget the day in '91' when Plugger and Nicky came back together against the crows at Moorabbin. We smashed them by 131 points, a young Nigel Smart quickly found out what a power forward was. Also although it ended up...

I am sick to death of this Ross Lyon is the problem crap. I actually believe he is improving as a coach as most people do when they take up a new position. I'll tell you who they should bring back for goalkicking coach. Jason Heatley.... had a very simple technique almost textbook. Loved nothing more than sitting behind the goal at Waverley and watching Heatley's 50 metre punts ease through the sticks with only a couple of revolutions of spin. Im prett...

Absolutely agree with everything 100 % with what The Sainter said. The forward pressure that we have been lacking was certainly evident last night. Saturday nights at TD

Not sure if this streak has been discussed yet, I heard on the weekend that we haven't dropped a game on a Saturday night at Telstra Dome for five years. I tried to think back and on memory the last time I can recall us dropping one was against Melbourne in Round 22, 2002. Can anybody shed some ligh...

I probably lean more towards Teflon's viewpoint. The main problem we had last season was fitness or more so a lack of it. We werent able to run out games due to: - Players having poor pre-seasons, and post season surgery - The horrible run of injuries rounds (8 - 11) In saying that though the idea o...
