Re: (NO) Surprise! We pick 2 DEF

You get a first round pick every year. That's a pretty good chance at drafting a gun mid. The last mid that we drafted in the first round who made the AA team? Brendon Goddard in 2002

Re: Mock Draft

No small mids!!! No undersized key defenders!!! 193cm is no longer tall enough for a key defender!!! No half back flankers to be sprinkled with fairy dust in the hope of (maybe) one day turning into midfielders (but usually into pumpkins  )!!! I just hope that we get lucky and one of the big ...

Re: Jack Carroll

It's nonsense because you are apparently comparing aggregate all club whole of draft cohort figures with an individual club. The aggregate figure has to be better and doesn't reflect individual intuitive excellence. Actually shows 20% are already destined to fail? So the nominal 50% adjusts immedia...

Re: Jack Carroll

A 50% success rate among first round selections would rank SOS among the top recruiters of the past few decades, that’s is an excellent strike rate. In the nineties? Sure. In the modern era, 50% is a terrible strike rate in the first round. SOS has proven to be an inept recruiter and I hope he has ...

Re: Jack Carroll

I think this is a pointless move. Strikes me as a Shane Birss/Dean Polo type recruit. Would have preferred to take a mature backup ruck/key defender. Our 2025 midfield stocks should be Steele, Macrae, Phillipou, Windhager, Clark, Dow, Garcia, pick 7 (hopefully Smilie), pick 8 (hopefully Reid), Jone...

Re: Tm Membrey

I would have preferred to keep him on a one year but I don't blame the club for not offering two nor Tim for taking Collingwood's offer. Realistically he looked cooked until the final weeks of the season where he turned it on for a short burst when his career was on the line. I would have hoped that...

I saw a podcast appearance recently from Stocker where he clearly outlined the lingering disdain that he has for the coaching staff from his time at Carlton. Bolton is a strange appointment

Re: Ivan Soldo nominates St Kilda

He just about doubles Marshall for career and 2024 hit outs … Like to see stats Hitout to advantage. Agree with comments re Marshall and hit outs. Sub par. Which is know doubt why they are looking at Soldo. we got detroyed in centre clearance all year. Lyon has made this area as key. Huh? Career av...

Re: Membrey on the outs!!??

I hope it's correct that he has been offered a one year deal to stay with us. By all means, if another club is offering multiple years on better money then I wouldn't begrudge him for leaving. Tim has probably been told that a forward line of King, Sharman, Caminiti and Owens is the plan and he'd ju...

Keep it simple. Draft the two best available mids with 7 and 8

Re: The Harmless Grinch

I just hope that the Higgins goal isn't recognised in furture as the moment we lost access to the new Chris Judd. Then again, it ws the most hilarious and enjoyable moment of the year and a fitting end to the season. It does remind me of when Daniel Wulf hit the post against Sydney to draw the fina...

Re: GT on Twitter

Did we win more because King didn’t play? We won more with King out, not becaue he didn't play. Sharman still has an issue with consistency, puts in a good game about every 15 and we all get sucked in and think he's the answer to our forward line. Dropped away after the Essendon game, had a shocker...

Agree it is perplexing to play Bonner so regularly then delist him. Similar to another PA backman Leinert.
Logan Austin too. Which Port half back who can't defend will we take and play for a season before delisting this year?

It's not going to happen but it's an interesting thought experiment. If we completely abandon any hope of success for the next few years and switch to rebuild mode...as it sits, we'll likely have picks 6, 7 and 25 already. What would we yield from trading away high value senior guns? Approximate gue...

Not a bad call. He's taller and more agile than Hamill but it certainly seems that he's playing as the super physical third forward who provides fierce defensive pressure, which was Hamill's trademark. Similar wonky set shot too

Re: Who can we get

If there's a very talented young player wanting to move for opportunity or to return home (ie Steele, Membrey, Henry, Roberton) then we should pursue them but overall I think our focus needs to be on the draft. We can't take FA's because it would diminish our Battle compo. If anything I'd say we sho...
