Loving the indigenous leadership
I am loving all the clips and media of our indigenous boys. Hill appears to be blossoming into a great leader on and off the field and Nas, Windy look like great young role models and Henry/ Bonner seem to have slotted in well. Was a bit worried Collard may have pull to go home being from WC academy...

So who is in the "Coach's Club" they refer to?
Plus this is great journalism:
Plus this is great journalism:
Lyon’s expected appointment has the backing of former club stars whom he coached, including Ross Lyon, Brendon Goddard and Leigh Montagna. Jason Blake, another former player, now sits on the board.

Re: Let's settle this .. which camp are you in?
3.a. A great coach when coaching a strong team at its peak, but his game style was starting to become stale and he was an average to poor developer of lists
But don't agree with this:
so he deserved to go, on the balance of things
Scott Watters was NOT a step forward.

*Brown shut out Dixon completely. Given their respective pay packets, surely thats a win. *Carlisle showed great class down back *Captaincy raised Geary to new heights *Roberton could win a B&F if he puts it all together on a consistent basis *Just waiting for the day that Paddy grabs a game by ...

Nathan Brown
Just bit the bullet and watched the 2010 drawn GF for the first time since it happened. Couldn't face it until now. Nathan Brown did a great job on Roo. Seems like there is nothing wrong with his tank or skills. I tend not to watch Collingwood for health reasons unless they play us . Bit like X-rays...

General Lee v Hawks
What did others think of Lee v. Hawks? Thought he was serviceable for first game back after over a year in the 2s. Interesting the game plan seems to be focused on giving it to good ball users in the back line to pump it forward like Austin Jones used to. Savage, Webster playing the role well, and L...

Re: The Father All Mighty, Ameet Bains
I agree. Hats off to Bains. The whole football world was urging us to just trade pick 5 for Carlisle. Pelchan suggested we should do it because according to him and other experts "we need him". The media point out that good clubs like Geelong and Hawks just get these deals done so why can'...

Can we delist another player if we think there is better value at pick 1 in the PSD or are senior lists now finalised for current players ahead of the drafts?

Agents of change rarely get to stay once the changes start flowing through. Often they are better at instigating change, than managing or bedding down that change. Sometimes they get too addicted to making major changes, and don't know when to steady the ship. Recruiting/drafting wise the Saints ha...

McEvoy is 24? Not yet hit his peak for a ruckman. He maybe that monster by the time he's 28. He's a big boy!

Re: Sandi is Overrated
McEvoy is / was a good bloke, good leader, great endurance runner and good mark around the ground. He will provide hawks with good service. If we didn't trade him, we would not have Acres and Dunstan at the club plus steak knives Savage. At the moment Dunstan alone looks like we ripped Hawks off. Co...

Luke Dunstan the story of the night. 21 disposals and 7 tackles in his first game is remarkable. Eli Templeton also great for a first year rookie pick. Exciting as a young Aussie Jones. We will struggle all year but for the first time I reckon there really is another generation coming through. 5 win...

Scary to think of a forward line with no Roo and Milne. Who will kick the goals? Maister? Time for Stanley and Sippos to stand up. Hope Tommy Lee comes up ok soon.

Was Teague coaching at Carlton when Richardson was there? Speaking of which, nobody has commented on Richardson's time at the Blues. I seem to remember that he was in charge of Devlopment / The VFL team and his relationship with Pagan was so bad that not only did they not speak to each other, but th...

Re: Moneyball
I think it's a real stretch to compare our 09 group with the Oakland A's. We had one of the highest-paid, highest-profile players at one of the glamour positions. We had established AA level stars on every line going into that year. We had a disproportionate number of early draft picks mostly out o...

Re: Moneyball
Wasnt moneyball about a side who couldnt afford to get the stars so in that case we did use the moneyball approach. The difference being we had stars in our side and RL wanted to keep them so we paid good money for them to stay. This left us short when trying to get good players from other clubs so...
