Shiel is undeniably good at some things.
Hitting the goals is clearly not one of them. He missed badly today again when it mattered.
Some dudes, in fact most, never get better at that.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bummers Round 2 2019
If you’re satisfied with just beating a team that played some of the worst football I’ve ever seen for most of the game, that’s fine. I’d rather see us kicking 16.10 and not 10.16. Not butchering the ball bombing inside 50. Not kicking it out of defensive 50 with no system whatsoever. I’m happy wit...

Re: Jaryn Geary: Legend
That dude is a mad man. He cops heat, but he shouldn't. He would legit die on the footy field, and for that alone he deserves credit beyond what many AFL footballers get. He's often.forced into contests and scenarios that don't suit him, but he still will bleed for it. Hats off. Heart as big as Pha...

Re: Titus O’reilly
I get the feeling Hannebery could probably play but he would only be at 80-90% and they don't want him to get injured. On Friday, Saints coach Alan Richardson said star recruit Dan Hannebery “ needs to be rebuilt ”. Probably need to refer to the coaches assessment on Dans fitness Ted. It seems Dan ...

...and since the inception of the AFL we have basically been better than Richmond and Carlton (2 big sides of the AFL). Well, I would like to see the metrics on that...please indulge me. |Club |Saints |Essendon |Carlton| Richmond| Collingwood| |------|-----------|----------|-----------|----------|-...

Re: GT Fears for Saints' Future
One gets a sense of the reality of the ego when you make claims like we’re more successful than Richmond since the inception of the AFL. I think all that does is put some context around how ridiculous the whole 'my club is powerful' thing is. Clubs are not powerful. Winning does not make you powerf...

Come out and beat Essendon and this talk disappears Have hanners come on and uplift the team from round 5 and this talk disappears Have King come in and show the potential of a future gun and this talk disappears Footy is fundamentally a week by week proposition - you live and die by your performan...

Re: GT Fears for Saints' Future
GT may be right about Melbourne being unable to sustain 10 teams. He also knows that our supporter base, both active and latent, is far bigger then that of The Bulldogs, Melbourne and North Melbourne. We only have about 50k supporters more than each of them. Given supporter/member ratios are around...

Re: Screw you Doom and Gloom - let the games begin
we could be powerful by winning flags. surely that defines a powerful club.... so yeah you are right we aren't and won't be powerful The Bulldogs won a flag - and aren't powerful. Never will be. North won two on the late 90s - not powerful. The powerful clubs are the clubs that have always. Been bi...

Gee whiz, Grant, maybe it's time for you to post here again, instead of venting your spleen to press about the state of the club. You're starting to become like KB when he was in exile from Richmond. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/03/27/former-st-kilda-coach-thomas-fears-for-saints-afl-future/ Bu...

You have your head in the sand and you seem to be happy with mediocrity.. our admin is our off field staff, how don’t you understand that? Here’s some of our stuff ups: - Under resourced compared to other clubs - moving to Seaford then back - Our recruiting is abysmal (Paddy, King) - Hannas is a di...

Re: Simon (Lethlean) says...
How was it not a mistake? A new recruit assumes a leadership role doesn't make a great deal of sense, regardless of who it is. Unless they are coming in as a captain-coach, which of course has been a thing of the past since the early 80s. You think he'll be back by round 6? Where's the evidence to ...

Someone asked me for proof when I called our admin a rabble.. geezus ? How does this prove anything about the 'admin' (whatever that is)? You don’t think this move by our admin to get this guy was a huge mistake? Why be in denial over our admin when it’s clearly led us to the situation that we’re i...

Recruit a player with a broken body, a penchant for <edited by mods> and make him a leader. The club obliges. Now, after one game into the season the club admits it was all a mistake. This is just embarrassing. Will Hannebery ever play at all? The more the clubs gives vague updates on his condition...

Re: What do we want for $800,000 pa?
To put this in perspective if I can remember correctly in the last year I worked (2007) I was on about $110,000pa. My wife who is a Professor at a Melbourne university is on $180,000. The Prime Minister is on $528,000. And Dan Hannebery can't train and be in the leadership group for $800,000pa. FFS...
