It's hard to comment on assistant coaches really, as we all have no idea WTF they actually do and what their measures of success are.

Guys like John Barker that from the outside, appear to wreak mediocrity everywhere they go - are apparently 'highly regarded' by everyone in the industry.

So was Playfair any good or not? I wouldn't have a f****** clue.

Never really warmed up to him.

First season, St Kilda went from conceding 1986 (2017) points to 2125 (2018).
Second season, conceded points were 1961, but again in a year where scoring was down across the board. League %age was 89.1% in 2017, and it went down to 80.38% in 2019. Don't let the media fool you into believing it was a high scoring season or the 6-6-6 change was good for scoring!

I also thought Playfair was well regarded and thought he got the most out of our backline which is full of very average footballers.
