Re: Brad Hill
The question is say we have pick 5-6 in the draft do you keep it or swap for Hill (26 years old)?
We do not have any 2nd or 3rd rounders to trade from our 2019 picks.
Acres would not be a straight swap for Hill.

Re: Brad Hill
Exactly what we need. Ed Langdon apparently want's out as well plus Stephen Hill is an unrestricted FA. I reckon a first round pick for the two plus a future second perhaps would get it done and get Stephen Hill as a FA.

Massive chance as previously stated. We have the $'s to outbid anyone.

Re: Brad Hill
What player would you be willing to trade for Hill then that Freo would take?
Hill will not be gained at no cost. Either high picks or a player they want (+picks)

Trade Dunstan, or trade Ross, or package up Newnes + Sinclair or Savage + Longer or any combo pack you like and we'll throw in a large packet of chips and a choc top

Outbid? For Brad Hill? What are you talking about? He's NOT a free agent. And we have no second rounder to trade.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 1:03pm Massive chance as previously stated. We have the $'s to outbid anyone.
Unless we find one of those then, we're going to struggle as Hill's not worth pick 5 or 6 (no matter how much we need him)

Re: Brad Hill
All I know is that I wouldn't trade Acres for Hill. If they give us Langdon and Hill, then they can have him
Otherwise f*** 'em. They can let him go to any team for nothing for all I care

Re: Brad Hill
We could yet finish above Freo on the ladder.
In any case our ladder positions may not be far apart at the end of the H&A, and so what you are really saying is Hill for our next year's third rounder which clearly would not get the deal done.

Re: Brad Hill
Acres in a heartbeat
Hill is a gun, Acres is not
But Freo wouldn’t even consider that trade. They’d want a frdp and then some.
Plus, he will go to Hawthorn

Re: Brad Hill
supposedly a weak draft this year ? ..
Im not against giving up our first rounder for a player but it needs to be someone who will still be in our best 18 in 2022-2024. Midfield preferred but Ben King another good option.

Re: Brad Hill
Well Hawk's fans will tell (well a number of them anyway) you they are getting all of Whitfield, Cogs, Hill and Patton this year, all while getting Anderson in the draft. Which obviously will not happen.
Whitfield is a pipe dream this year. If GWS allowed him to break his contract, the trade cost would be huge and the Hawks have to use either this years or next years first rounder themselves rather than trade it.
Patton is the easiest. Say a second rounder. But GWS want the salary dump and so Hawks will have to stump up some $$$.
Cogs if he nominates the Hawks will most likely see GWS match the offer to force a trade. If that happens then they will need to trade a first rounder and more. With the Patton trade they will find it hard.
Hawk's fans have them trading over their 30 year olds for good picks, but they are IMO over-estimating what they will get in.
If no Cogs they can then look at Hill. $$$ wise Hill would have to take well under to join them. Saints can offer BOTH he and his brother overs. Hawks can't do that.' Purely my guess, but I believe Hill will be more tempted by $$$ than some of the other mids that we would like. I think that he is a lot more gettable than Cogs.
Hill may also not be that happy to wait around while Cogs makes up his mind.
I would also much prefer Hill to Martin from the GC.
Hill is a good one for the Saints to be into in a big way at present.
PS: Very good chance that our pick will not be top 3. The later the pick the more attractive getting Hill in is .

Brad Hill has stated that while he may be Melbourne bound, he wasn't interested in returning to the Hawks.

Re: Brad Hill
Think laterally young man there are numerous options at us bringing in Hill without giving up our first pick just for him. As mentioned aboved Hill & Langdon for #5 or split picks for #5 or third party deals or trading out players or including his brother a DFA in deals, the options are limitless.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 1:38pmOutbid? Re: Brad Hill
LOL, the normal practice is to put an offer to the players manager, then the manager will discuss with his client. If there is interest the negotiations commence.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 1:03pm Massive chance as previously stated. We have the $'s to outbid anyone.
The moral of the story is you actually have to put an offer to the players manager and then have that player receive the offer and consider the offer to be a chance, let alone a massive chance

So move a couple of spots in round one (up or down) and a 3rd rounder for Brad Hill?CURLY wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 2:19pmGive them our first and next years third for Hill and there first this year.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 2:08pmNone of whom will get you Hill.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 1:36pm Trade Dunstan, or trade Ross, or package up Newnes + Sinclair or Savage + Longer or any combo pack you like and we'll throw in a large packet of chips and a choc top

Why not throw in a rookie contract for his free agent brother to get the two of them?
That's funnier than your umpire threads Curly
Add umpire Foote to the deal and we might get it across the line.

Re: Brad Hill
I would say the options are significantly less than limitless for a team that does not have a 2nd or 3rd round pick. And splitting our R1 pick last year was so successful wasn't it?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 5:34pmThink laterally young man there are numerous options at us bringing in Hill without giving up our first pick just for him. And in any case - my position was regarding Ted's inherent assertion that simply having a lot of money in our cap (allegedly) would get Hill to Moorabbin.

Should have added starting point. I really don’t like mentioning who we should trade while we are playing.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 6:19pmSo move a couple of spots in round one (up or down) and a 3rd rounder for Brad Hill?CURLY wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 2:19pmGive them our first and next years third for Hill and there first this year.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 2:08pmNone of whom will get you Hill.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Wed 24 Jul 2019 1:36pm Trade Dunstan, or trade Ross, or package up Newnes + Sinclair or Savage + Longer or any combo pack you like and we'll throw in a large packet of chips and a choc top

Re: Brad Hill
Getting rid of our whipping boys or rubbish is not going to land us an A Grade wingman
Seb Ross, finished top 2 in the last three best & fairests, winning in 2017. Apparently he is not as good as Acres, who is yet to finish in the top 10, and won’t this year.

Re: Brad Hill
A 2nd rounder would do it. Not worth a 1st but he is only 26 and a gun wingman.
We have the cap space to offer him the best deal. We should throw the kitchen sink at him.
Manager confirmed Vic clubs are circling. Hawks out of the race apparently.
