AFL Fake News and Clickbait
So far, there are three AFL tabloid journalists to avoid in regards to reports on the club’s process of finding a new coach: Damian Barrett, Sam McClure and David King.
Am I missing any others?
These three guys seem to be the main offenders of perpetuating BS.
McClueless is a complete nuffie. Of course, he was cherrypicked by Hutchy and his Crock Media to the new look SEN (which has now become static airwaves, garnished with ad breaks every 5 minutes). His reasoning of Brad Scott being a contender because of his close friendship with Lethlean is completely ridiculous.
Then there’s our old gutter-crawling poindexter, Barrett. He’s trying to suggest that we must get Robert Harvey, because he’ll somehow magically turn everything around. Has anyone noticed all the rave endorsements Harvey is getting as a potential senior coach?
Last, but not least, the cheer squad leader of the Sainter-Haters anti-fan club, the (David) King for Day, Fool for Lifetime. His mere suggestion of us going after James Hird is sufficient evidence enough that he is just taking the piss. How in the heck did that guy ever got a gig as a former player pundit?!?! The AFL media’s credibility is sinking towards the bottom of the ocean. There really are very few voices of reason left now.
Make sure to question what you read and hear out there.
Don’t believe the hype!

Re: AFL Fake News and Clickbait
There’s a guy on this forum that keeps reporting multiple posters used a naughty term to demean the Former coach...
Have asked for an iota of evidence and they’ve stopped posting... again.
Does that count?

According to my wife, she was getting her fangs into Finnis on 3AW Tuesday night. All very predictable from a vulture, hang around a body willing it to be a carcass then carrying on when the carcass is taken away.

Re: AFL Fake News and Clickbait
What makes you think that?
Personally, I think we need a a coach who is a fire-breather or is a disagreeable type in personality. History says our teams have responded best to those types:
Allan Jeans - fire-breather
Ken Sheldon - fire-breather
Stan Alves - fire-breather
Grant Thomas - disagreeable
Ross Lyon - disagreeable
We don’t want another Mr. Nice Guy!!
A coach whom has played and/or coached a premiership team is a bonus.

Alan Killigrew was a real hot gospeler, an inspirational speaker and wasn't a bad coach. I can still remember his bellowing voice.
The best of the best when it came to fire breathers.

Told the players "You've gotta be prepared to die for your club".
Then he pissed off to North!

Re: AFL Fake News and Clickbait
Killa left to coach Norwood in 1959, taking them to 2 Grand Finals in 1960 and 1961
I think he was then appointed to North Melbourne in 1963
I was still at school when Killa arrived at The Parade - and they were the days when you had access to the Change Rooms and to the Oval during quarter time breaks
It was said that Killa, for all his pantomime and extolling running thru brick walls, never swore and that is my recollection
Highly regarded in life and in football
The legacy at The Parade was a side with many former VFL footballers including from St Kilda (Brian Bowe who we knew very well, Lester Ross and Geoff Feehan for starters) and at the expense of junior development which lagged costing the Club a generation until the fruits of reinvestment in junior development contributed to a premiership in 1975 (along with some prudent recruiting)
Of interest was that the Coach during that reinvestment in youth period was replaced in 1974 by a Coach tasked with delivering
And so it came to pass
Killa remains a legend at The Parade
A premiership would have been a just reward but luck was absent when just a little bit was needed

Re: AFL Fake News and Clickbait
Played under Killa in 1986 in Cairns. He was a lot older then and pretty quiet as a coach. But a lovely man and he enjoyed telling me stories of his days with the Saints

Re: AFL Fake News and Clickbait
Just general stuff about guys he coached. I became good mates with a player from an opposition team (most footy players in Cairns back then would be on the sauce at the same nightclubs so you’d always have a chat) who followed the Saints. Killa had coached his dad - Harold Davies - so he would chat to Killa when we played his team
