Yep. Pity it took him so long to get a look in.
Would be even better suited to being a ruck/forward in my book, looks very dangerous inside F50

Re: Something positive....
Do you reckon he was ready to be an AFL ruckmen last season Dud?
He wasn’t even first ruck at Sandy, and was still on the Rookie list.
Some players need a full AFL pre season or two to mature, especially 2m tall players

Re: Something positive....
The team effort was a positive. Played well. Done good. Possibly best effort of the year.

Re: Something positive....
I believe he should have played as 2nd ruck / forward more last year with Hickey. He was 22, not 18-19.
Don’t forget our coaching staff had him as our 3rd in line ruckman round 1 this season. Injuries forced him into the team. That kind of judgement on players ability/potential is worrying in my book. How many other potential guns do we have languishing in the wrong role/position/2s?
A fresh look at our list from a new head coach will benefit a number of players I think.

Re: Something positive....
I'm going to make a big call here and say that RoMa will be the best ruck we've had at St Kilda since Big Carl Ditterich in the 60's -70's. Big Carl had white line fever and real mongrel in him and I can also see a bit of that in Rowan. Nice Bloke off field but he'll make men stand tall around him like Carl did!!!

Re: Something positive....
Dud,
It was his second year in the system, he was 22 which is young for a 200cm
And when he was recruited from Nth Ballarat he played CHB/CHF mainly
Last year as a ruckman he was behind Longer who’s older, stronger, heavier, more experienced but admittedly useless.
Hickey who was dominating when at Sandy, while Marshall was playing second fiddle to him as a fwd ruck
Pierce played before Marshall as a ruck last year, deservedly, again, bigger, stronger, and won a VFL best and Fairest and deserved his selection.
Pierce also took Marshall to the cleaners in the intra club, so got R1.
Marshall’s R1 at Sandy he was BOG as a Ruckman and Pierce was average, so Marshall got an opportunity, timing was right.

Re: Something positive....
I have many negative things to say about Richo and the club....but that makes it easy to forget there's lots of potential, young lads that came on strong but are drifting...who could be guided into bring 200 gamers.
Rowan is a young one capable of 200 games and I hope we don't brush him aside for some end of career ruckman.

Re: Something positive....
I would have played him 70-30 or 80-20 forward-ruck last year, he showed enough in the games he played.B.M wrote: ↑Sun 14 Jul 2019 12:22pm Dud,

Also interested to know when you think we should be seeing Max King play, because I don’t think the locals will be happy to wait til 2022-23.

Welcome to the club. I have had him pegged as that since mid-season.
Gardiner was very good when fit. But we got him too late.
Everitt was very good, but the club at that time could not handle players like him.
RoMa seems to be very driven in himself.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Yep agreed. Imagine what White might do if only Richo gave him a chance instead of Dan "4 touches" MackenzieThe_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 14 Jul 2019 10:16amI believe he should have played as 2nd ruck / forward more last year with Hickey. He was 22, not 18-19.
