In Richardson's Mind

Post: # 1804134Post HardSaint »

does he still think he's the right man for the job?
what would be his reasons / rationale
would he argue that he's the right guy for another year and what would his argument be?

At what point does he put up his hand and say "I've failed"
has he already?

seems he's just seeing out his contract at this point

When the going got tough, Richo never really got going

I have to agree. Pains me. The ultra competitive side to me senses we are now in a holding pattern.

He won’t quit. He knows he won’t be coaching next year. He also knows he can’t be sacked until algebra or quantum mechanics kick in.

So he will just take the big pay cheque while he can.

Park Orchards is pricey.

I’ll give Richo the benefit of the doubt...he’s a thinking man but god knows what goes through that head of his. We’re rooted until he leaves his post/gets the arse.

Tend to agree Ape-Man...he's only got this gig for so long, surely nothing short of a final was going to see him in the seat next year, so he know's he's gone.

Just because he may not be the right coach for us moving forward doesn't mean he's a bad coach.

It's a bloody tough gig being an AFL coach especially when taking on a team that's down the bottom of the ladder.

A bit of catch 22 there.

What should AR have done differently today?

I’ve got one thing

Rolling Seb back from a wing to play as a spare after Hunter went off, was not a great move imo. I know he wanted some experience in the back half, but Seb wouldn’t have been my choice for that role.

Otherwise
Outplayed by a team of better players in better form. Steam rolled in Q1 because they bashed us up around the footy, we did well to not get absolutely flogged and be competitive after Q1
Bruce, Billing, Carlisle and Steele battled hard. But lack of polish again was costly.
Can only play one of Long or Parker next week.

The rubber stamp came down 3rd quarter of the Lions game. The players know it.

I feel sorry from him as I genuinely liked the guy and was bundled a lot of hope into the man based on the hype that surrounded him when he arrived
There's no question that he's a good guy and I'm sure the players like him
I always hate when the term "nice guys finish last" is proven correct

maybe another place, another time he might have done better, but AFL coaching is as brutal
and he put his hand up for a job coaching St Kilda, a place with so many anomalies and WTF's associated with it

but yeah, a stale bottle of piss is what you become when you linger longer than your use buy date

Don’t feel sorry for him.

He has given his best in something he always wanted to do. Something he loves to do. Most can’t say that about their careers.

Made some bank in the process too.

He should be thinking the players deserve better than me. I couldn't get them ready for the 1st quarter physicality. They responded by themselves. Actually thought: Clark showed more than I ever thought he had. But still a HBF. Brown's omission justified.

I know what we see each week but besides being "strong at the contest" and struggling to score over 60 points a game.

Has anyone actually askes Richo to articulate our gameplan? Maybe explain his team selections whilst he's at it. 6yrs in and we never hear squat.....

He called it for what it was in a sense during his fan message, have to say I pissed myself when hearing “gday saints fans”. Cracks me up every time for some unknown reason

I dunno it's pissed me off for a long time as though he's talking to children and he's just feeding the chooks - no longer in our inboxes, you have to seek out his "fan messag" these days - I guess the op is looking for honesty on what he really thinks and feels - not that we're gonna get that

You are right.

He speaks like he is a rocket scientist and tries to explain how orbital mechanics work.
