Who's Heading To Bellerive?

Post: # 1803346Post Ghost Like »

Heading to Hobart for the first time to watch some footy. I was wondering if anyone else from here is going or if anyone has been there before?

Is there a Saint's pub for supporters to gather before & after the game?

The local supporters club are having a function at the Bellerive yacht club which is a short walk away from the ground.

I will be at game

Cheers TSR. Do you know if they allow blow ins or just for the locals?

I'll probably head there in coming years to support the Southern Saints once we relocate to Hobart.

Yes big islanders welcome. It is $5 at door. They had a lunch on but that is booked out

If you want to try and act local call Blundstone Arena “ Boot Park”.

Awesome! Thanks TSR. Will pop my head in for a couple after lunch on the dock, before heading into "Boot Park".

A big pat on the back to those hardy souls making the trek to a cold, windswept and distant place to support the team and endure what I fully expect to be another disappointing no-show from our team of headless chooks. Even if I did not have other commitments, given the parlous state of this season, I still don't think I could bring myself to part with the cash and spend the time necessary to attend.....

You certainly summed up Hobart, the coldest place I have ever lived in . The wind chill factor is a killer.

Lovely at the moment, inside a heated bar with very nervous Saints...we will still blame the cold for shaking!

Appreciate the heads up Saynta.

He might be, if only to provide 'leadership'.

After all, he's earning (sorry, 'getting paid' i should say)
about double the salary of the Prime Minister

UPDATE

To True Believer & Saynta, very fresh here this morning but seemingly fine, turning into a beautiful day. Lots of hardy Saints & Roo supporters wandering about.

A few disgruntled Saints fans last night after waiting for over two hours to see the boys "train". Apparently their flight was delayed so when they got to the ground they really did not want to be there, their main drill was blowing into their hands to keep warm.

A difficult situation, I can understand from both perspectives. It really should have been called off. It still begs the question about our logistical failures when travelling aa a club. At some point we have to say there's something more to this than bad luck.

NOTE: The North supporters were wrapped with their session. The players had a sharp, professional session and then hung around and mingled with their fans.

A new day, the sun is up, fingers crossed yesterday was just an aberration.

Welcome to Tasmania where flights are delayed all the time.

I was actually picking my wife up at 3.30 and the Saints were just getting their gear off the carousel. Was quite exciting to see them all

By the way cannot understand why this game is not the 1pm game for two reasons

1 give people plenty of time to get flights home
2 it will be freezing by 4.30 regardless of how great the day is. Still 4 degrees here at 10am at our place

The timeslot is baffling. The water bottles will be frozen at 3 quarter time!

Can't wait for it to start.

P.S.: Hobart is a cracking town, it's like walking around a colonial movie set. They know how to serve beer though, cold!

Don't credit them with choice, they have none. The place is as cold as a mother-in-laws kiss!!
